CIV NESIOT-A Fatal Flirtation

I had 2 orders PM'd to me, I am needing just Mech-kun and we'll update :)

My final is in 7 hours so if I don't have it in around 10~ hours, then I'll have to update without :*(

So an update on the update: I was not very satisfied about my progress at where we were so I went on to turn 40, and at this point a few of you now have second cities(!!!)

Unfortunately in the midst of gaming, my mouse seems to have stopped working and I may have made it worse by trying to fix it. I hope to have the update done this weekend but I can assure you it is coming :)

Update Two:
Tears of a Fallen Forrest

The Khalim

The Khalim waved a heartfelt goodbye to their fellow tribesmen as they went off into the distance, led by the great hero Alaram into a fertile grassland, not too far from the strange foreigners.

Spoiler :
IMBAzMg.jpg

Though the Chief of Metharim declared it was not in their ways to settle, some tribesmen did, and the fields of corn grew taller each year. It was decreed a granary was to be built, and the Khalim are enjoying a great era of peace in their fertile lands.

Spoiler :
bHgawTR.jpg

Chieftain’s Challenge: Some of our villagers have spoken of a road to connect Metharim and Alaram, in order to facilitate trade, visits, and even defense between our two villages. However others have pointed out that there is plenty of work to be done around Metharim still. There is also the potential though that if we do not make a road, the people of Alaram may become more distant to our culture and develop a bit of a different identity than our own. How should we proceed?

The Shai’Dawn

The Shai’Dawn determined that the foreigners must be raided and subjegated, and invaded their lands. Unfortunately though, the Warriors of Shai’Dawn were unable to defeat the Sommish soldiers, who attacked in the forests and hills. The Shai’Dawn were defeated, and only a few survived to tell the tale.

Spoiler :
g70zYgb.jpg

It was clear to the War Chief that strong metals would be needed. The Shai’Dawn had unlocked the mysteries of bronze, but did not have a significant supply of copper to make the weapons. In the meantime though, a new war party was sent out, instructed to make a new camp to the southwest, in hopes of one day leading new raids upon the foreigners.

Spoiler :
pGEQdDY.jpg

Chieftain’s Challenge: Our Warriors are growing more arrogant, and demanding that every warrior receives a slave to tend to their needs so they can better train. However, without foreigners to capture, the Warriors instead want to enslave the weakest among us, declaring anyone who cannot fight should be a slave. Of course, much of our population is against this move. How do we respond to this situation?

The Kahdulian

The Kahdulian for the most part had an uneventful era of peace and prosperity for the upper castes. For the lower castes, it was an era of lost rights, of chains and slavery. Still, the bounties of the land were so much that even the lowest of the low did not go hungry. Farms were raised, pastures created, and many are convinced that the Kahdulian have a bright future ahead of them.

Spoiler :
KnFFizQ.jpg

King’s Challenge: The foreigners to the north have set up an armed camp right at our borders! The Warriors are highly antagonized and beg for the honor of wiping out their camp, and the rich are eager to take new slaves. Some of the more peaceful among us though advocate expansion to the unclaimed east, and see little point in antagonizing our neighbor who may very well be stronger than us. How should we respond?

The Targanians

The Targanians sent another scouting party southeast, hoping to see what lands might lie beyond. However, they too were killed, and any future expedition will need to be much more heavily armed.

To their west however, a thick jungle and a coast was found, and within the jungles there were plants that local tribes used to dye their clothes into bright and exotic colors. Perhaps a settlement in the region may soon be in order?

Spoiler :
nRjLlrh.jpg

All in all, the Targanians have developed well. Cattle have been herded, a quarry of stone has been erected, and the Targanians have even mastered the taming of horses. Perhaps they might be used for trade, or perhaps even...for war? In the meantime, Dorjin has grown and now a band of people seek new homes and to further the lands of Targania.

Spoiler :
tDTMdrh.jpg

Chieftain’s Challenge: The elephants of our lands have grown difficult to tame, as some of our best hunters have refused to assist. One of the chief hunters has come forward with an offer; if the village were to allow for only him and his progeny the right to tame the elephants, he could easily tame the beasts and would bring their bounties to Dorjin. However, in exchange he wants the rest of the village to stay away from the herds. How should we deal with this situation?

Daghu Menyak

Perhaps the greatest shock for the Daghu Menyak was the meeting of strange foreigners to the west. The foreigners were unable to communicate, though for the most part did not seem hostile, acting rather aloof instead.

Spoiler :
8NuqSbb.jpg

As Sorguz Menyak continued to grow larger and larger due to the great influx of crops and cattle, it was determined a new village would be established to the east. Situatied on a lake with fertile lands and wild grapes, the settlers have high hopes as they go forward to this new land.

Spoiler :
hx6d8sL.jpg

Dhaguzyek’s Challenge: Our settlement lies in a great thicket of forests, and some of our villagers are advocating the clearing of them so that farms and towns might grow instead. However, others in our tribe are highly opposed. Some believe that great spirits live within the forests, while others are more practical, using the forest for collecting stray pieces of lumber and pointing out that we have plenty of food already. Clearing the forest could hinder our long term production. How should we respond to this issue?

The Voitschmak

The Voitschmak had a very interesting era, that of religious devotion and expansion. As the Ahaf continue to meditate and contemplate, some people have taken to making small idols of what they believe the gods to look like. Collecting small gems near the river, said to be tears of Klivär, these idols and artifacts became to be considered near holy, and a religious fervor has enveloped the people of Voitschmak, as plans for a monestary so that the Ahaf can contemplate in peace are set in motion.

Spoiler :
0Sj24rs.jpg

Further down the Kliv, a new village has been established, that of Bairem. Though its soil is less fertile than that of the capital, it has access to the gems that the Voitschmak seem desperate to acquire. Perhaps one day it may rival the capital itself?

Spoiler :
3OgTFbh.jpg

Föklurah’s Challenge: Some of the Ahaf have begun complaining about the fact that they need to hunt and gather and work like the other villagers. They have argued that their minds are better suited to discovering the secrets of Klivär. While there may be some truth to their statement, fewer people working would mean less food coming in to the settlement and fewer laborers to help construct the village, and could lead to other issues further down the road. How should we respond to this issue?

The Qoyandhul

The Qoyandhul scouts continued their way north, and made a shocking discovery. They were at the ends of the world itself, with nothing more but ice and ice. The men who lived to return would be shocked horribly beyond belief from this sight.

Spoiler :
dynzyXM.jpg

For the most part, the Qoyandhul had a time of growth and prosperity, and their settlement grew larger and larger, so much so that a group of villagers intended to leave for the grasslands to the north, in the last bit of fertile land before one hits the sea of water and of ice.

Spoiler :
Gh3cPP6.jpg

And though already the village is rather large, an exciting discovery came when a local metal worker was able to cast bronze. Though there is no local source for copper, there is enough to make basic tools out of, and already forests are being felled to make room for more crops and villages.

Spoiler :
UYeNGF4.jpg

Madaxooweyn's Challenge: The appearance and then disappearance of the foreigners have led many of our people to become highly suspicious of them and their motives. Our scouts have uncovered their layer to the west, and bring back some unwelcome news; there is little land in this world, and most of it is barren. This means good land like our own is going to be at a premium, and these foreigners may try to take it from us. Some advocate sending out a war party to take their lands before they take ours, while others advocate a more defensive strategy. Though the offensive strategy is certainly more risky, the defensive strategy could see us lose out on what little land there is in this world. How should we respond?

The Chiarmar

Spoiler :
ivtqD98.jpg

Perhaps the most important event in the history of the Chiarmar people came at last, when a holy tome of the Spear Mother was created. A tome of symbols, paintings of the Great Spear Mother defending humanity from the evils of Rajir, and the burning of Yatvin Nid'Alnäe, and is already a great inspiration to not only the priestesses but also the people.

Spoiler :
c0KgEP0.jpg

However, a more worrying development was found to the north. Our warriors found a pale white then, who retreated to a village close by. Upon closer inspection though, this was not a village like the one found near Altor Omisais. Instead, this was a bustling village with a large number of people, and some were even tilling the land. This would have to be reported to the Mahar….

Spoiler :
yNWOFBE.jpg

At the end of this current age, a group of settlers embarked north, close to Sommish lands to create the settlement of Nidalnae. A small fishing village, the people of Nidalnee hope to send boats to help harvest the sea life near the capital, as well as mine the rich hills near the city. Perhaps a third city may be built to the east near the sheep, though going further north would mean encroaching upon Sommish lands.

Mahar’s Challenge: The decision to separate the rule of our people on the basis of gender has caused some significant disturbances within our village due to the power struggles that all too often occur between the two Mahars. One of our priestesses has a suggestion though that can end the infighting, and perhaps gain the favor of the deities. The female Mahar, who can still trace her lineage from the Spearmother, will marry the current male Mahar, a man with little divine blood to speak of. The son and daughter of this union, when grown, will marry one another and become Mahars themselves. This will end the infighting of our people and perhaps more importantly, the Spearmother will smile upon this union, and our warriors will soon be lead by one who can trace their lineage to the Gods. However, this action may have unintended consequences. How should we proceed?

The Jutans

The Jutans had some quiet years of peace. Though the great Riki declared that the wealth of the mines were to be owned by her, and her alone, she declared that those who worked the mines would also be given some of the bounty, greatly increasing the happiness of Her people.

Spoiler :
e7GdBnK.jpg

The Jutans explored the coast to the Northwest, and did in fact find some good lands for settlement, including a herd of wild cows that they might be able to domesticate. However, a more pressing concern is the strange foreigners to the West. Already they have sent a small delegation, asking for permission to preach in Jutan lands, and slightly to the west on the river they have made a new settlement.

Spoiler :
lQPQdnz.jpg

Riki’s Challenge: The strange foreigners to our west have asked the Great Riki if they might be allowed to spread the teachings of their Gods in our lands. If we give permission, they will likely be very happy, and could lead to new trade ties and potentially an alliance. However, there are some concerned that the Jutan culture may be influenced by these foreigners, and others feel their western settlement is a direct challenge to the Riki’s power. How should we respond to the actions of the foreigners?

The Amalthusians

The Amalthusians spent the era exploring their land, farming it, creating mines and felling trees. There was little activity as their scouts explored to discover that this planet had very little landmass, and even less fertile land. Though a site for a new village to the south looks promising, it is clear that on the whole there is very little fertile land in the world.

Spoiler :
Td4j9rC.jpg

Chieftain’s Challenge: With so little land in this world, our people are becoming worried about the foreigners to our east, and the thought that they may decide to try to steal some of ours. Some have advocated that we should kill them before they kill us, while others advocate keeping a strong defensive position so that the foreigners cannot attack us. How should we proceed?

The Sommish

The Sommish had a great scare as a group of strange men sought to overrun their settlement, were it not for the valor of the Sommish nobles. As thanks to the great warriors who defended Monsat, the King decreed that they would each be allowed to take the lowest of the Sommish as slaves.

As the Sommish prepared to stake out a new settlement Sommish scouts ventured out into the great north and found that the world they lived in was populated by a variety of unique tribes. One such tribe worshiped a pantheon centered around a great river, while another tribe was ruled more by the women rather than the men.

Spoiler :
0LADDyx.jpg

bsMwIsP.jpg

A third tribe hailed from the south, warning of great demons to be found. It seemed they too practiced a peculiar religion, though the latter seemed significantly less cheerful than the former.

Spoiler :
hiTBgyi.jpg

Sommish scouts even located the source of the strange barbarians to the Northeast. Though the scouts could not fight them, the scouts were also confident that these barbarians proved no threat, and they quickly faded from Sommish minds with the settlement of Emmery, and are poised to even further the boundaries of Sommerland.

King’s Challenge: Though the strange barbarians were defeated, they still lurk and perhaps could one day challenge us. Some of our men advocate sending a force to fight, while others feel that they would never be as foolish to challenge the Sommish again. What course of action should we take?

OOC:

Whew! Sorry about the delay on this one, finals took more out of me than I thought it would!

As always, feedback is greatly appreciated :)

For this update, I am going to give you 5 points, to be spread out over the following categories:

Development
Expansion
Offensive
Defensive
Culture
Spirit

You can spend your points however you’d like. Put all 5 of them into Offensive, put 3 into Culture 2 into spirit, 1 into every category (aside from 1 of course), whatever you want really! This will determine how I develop your nation further Once again I DO NOT TAKE BUILD ORDER REQUESTS. Please do not request that or a specific wonder either. Saying “build fishing boats to take advantage of the coast” is fine. Saying Build Fishing boat, then build warrior, then build barracks, then grainary, is not how I want to run the nesiot. Even standard Civ IV combat rules /do not apply as normal/.

I’d like to get orders in by Saturday, Sunday at the latest. If of course I waited too long to update, I totally get it though, and if you’re not interested in seeing this go on, no hard feelings :)

If you are interested in being a reserve player, I actually may be in need of one :) Inquire within :)

Challenge and Solution:
Spoiler :

Föklurah’s Challenge: Some of the Ahaf have begun complaining about the fact that they need to hunt and gather and work like the other villagers. They have argued that their minds are better suited to discovering the secrets of Klivär. While there may be some truth to their statement, fewer people working would mean less food coming in to the settlement and fewer laborers to help construct the village, and could lead to other issues further down the road. How should we respond to this issue?

Föklurah's Solution: Let the Ahaf contemplate, as that is what they are suited for. However, so that we can make up for our losses in manpower, in the future the children of the Ahaf and all those who wish to become Ahaf will have to spend a small part of their life in manual labour "so that they get in touch with the common people and their endless thirst for divine knowledge"

Sorry for poor orders quality, I blame my exams.

Orders: We can't trust in foreigners until we can prove that they're not a trap made by Rajir. We must continue exploring their lands and their customs.
