Hey all --

Hope this doesn't come across as spam, but I thought I'd throw a heads-up that I interviewed project art director Dorian Newcomb about the art style. You seem like the kind of folks that might find it interesting.

If this is an inappropriate place to post this or there's a better place I should put it, please let me know. Again, not trying to spam or VM you all :)

Cheers,
Adam

Thanks for that. I enjoyed reading the article. :)

Thanks for that, Adam, and welcome to Civfanatics.

I like the Art Deco style :) so it's nice to get some backgrounds with it.

I'm not really a fan of the art deco interface - but I do think that the rest of teh game loosk just about as good as it possibly could with current technology.

I especially think that the full screen leaders is going to be huge. I bet that when civ 6 roles out in 2015 we will be demanding that there are around 30 different backgrounds for each civ /leader etc!

Thanks :) (i still can't find the link myself :dunno:).
At all, i can't agree with some of the analyzes, which have been made on the first page, but it's a nice article.

We don't want to make a game for dumb people... BUT... we want dumb people to be able to play our smart game. Because dumple people's money is just as good as the smart people's. :D

Watching the GiantBomb morons trying to play... puts my teeth on edge.

Well, the way I see it, morons like them spending their money in this way allows Firaxis to continue making games for people like us. Making the game accessible to less-than-competent players ensures the funds for an expansion or two...

EDIT: Man, those guys are morons.

Lets not be calling new players to the series morons. I was a moron for years of playing civ. Then I found this wonderfull site to guide me by the hand....

(even if I agree watching them made me "uneasy":shifty:)

Meh. It'd be like me trying to play a game I am fairly unfamiliar with.

At least they seemed interested and these type of people are the kind of people that 2K is aiming their marketing at.

They clearly aren't morons. Just not Civ educated.
