Since Civ 5 isnt coming out for most parts of the world, but the demo is, why not get some competition going to shorten the wait.

As far as I know, you can play the demo up to turn 150, so lets play these turns and compare how far we can go.

I suggest playing on Prince difficulty, any civilization or map type. Just post a screenshot of Your game at the end of turn 149.
Scoring counts in different areas of the game, as seen below. Obviously there is nothing stopping You from reloading/cheating, so this is just a friendly competition between fellow gamers. Please stay fair, honest and civil.

Thanks for participating.

:science: Most Technologies researched on turn 149: (ties resolved by beaker count)

Maybe You can come up with some other categories. Lets hope we can all learn something with this, interesting opening strategies or usefull civs for specific task, and most of all have some fun :D

Can we play multiple times? Or is it just first time only? (Can you play multiple times at all, or is it you go through once, now buy the game?)

Nice idea, im in too!

but maybe we should use quick instead of normal velocity... the differences with 100 turns in normal are going to be minimal.

Sure, Ill post a screen shot, which screen shots will you need to see specifically? Of any overviews? Or just the game screen.

I'll just have fun playing the full version of the game while you peasants play at your little demo competitions... :king:

Egotism and elitism aside, I think this is a good idea. :)

Since this is a JFF competition, scumming to get the best possible score really seems unnecessary... I think it would be more interesting to see how we cheap not-buying-retail-yet fans fair on a first playthrough having little to no knowledge of many of the mechanics.* It's kind of a good mutual learning experience, too, if we end up commenting on what we're surprised and impressed by as it will help us start filling out those crucial strategy pages in the next couple of months.

*This is, of course, to the exclusion of Beta players who should have no real reason to play the demo as they are either invested in retail already, or think the game ain't worth playin'. The exception to the exception is, of course, those less fiscally fit Beta testers who don't mind resorting to "the methadone" of Methamphetavization Five.

I'm waiting for the first pro to play on a low difficulty setting and actually win the game in less than 100 turns

Germany or Greece sounds like a good choice for that :D

I'll be playing the full game, but I wish you guys well: I would recommend an early warrior rush, bypassing all those silly "most" goals. Why have most culture when you can burn them all and win all the goals

As this is just for fun You can play as often as You want, maybe talk about Your experiences and mistakes You made and how to avoid them in the future.

You can do as You like, but I guess many people prefer normal or slower game speed, so for the sake of camparison we should stick with normal. Feel free to post screenshots of Your fast games as well.

I think normal game screenshot should suffice, since all the important stats are in the top left corner. Im guessing for Units killed count there is an extra screen for that like in Civ 4. Feel free to post extra screenshots to highlight specific and fun stuff You encountert during Your game.

Exactly what I had in mind with this. Just post some fun stories and screenshots for us Civfanatics here to read.

By the way any news on the civs we will play on the demo tommorrow?

No idea yet, lets get ready for the suprises!

--------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you all for Your interest, lets have some fun tomorrow!

For those who have already pre-loaded the game, do we have to download the demo separately?

If so that that sort of sucks :(

Still, at least I will get a early taste of the game :D

Count me in. ;)

EDIT: Also, this post is reserved for my score/end game status.
