Since the mobile game is in the works, why not have a light version of CIV V that can be played on systems not strong enough to play the current version. I would really like to play CIV V on my laptop which is about 4 years old an my fav computer ever!!

The game technically does have a "light" mode with the Strategic Map.

Nice idea - it'd be cool to be able to play CiV whilst stuck with my netbook.

That said, if the mobile version runs on Android, then I guess running Android-x86 in a virtual machine or dual booting would enable it to be played on a pc. Might have to try that...

Civ V runs on my dualcore notebook with an intel graphics card, which supports DX11.
I bought mine 2008, which is 3 years ago.

So if you happen to have an as limited notebook as I do, you shouldn't have a problem running it.

I had to delete the graphic driver and install it anew from intel's homepage though.
Look in the technical forum. There you might find an answer.

It's probably a good thing that it stubbornly refuses to run on my netbook (single core Intel Atom, integrated graphics, etc) as having CiV on my work computer is unlikely to improve productivity

It runs fine on my gaming rig, which is probably where it should stay... but any excuse to play about with virtualbox / multiboot more OSs...

The graphics shouldn't be so fluffed up. I should be able to play it on my lap top, not just my desktop.

Civ 5 runs just fine on my laptop. The gfx are somewhat shabby in comparison to what I've seen on LP's by various ppl, but that does not bother me too much. :)

Just play Civ4.
