Has anyone had a start like this?
Suffice to say, there was one less city state in this game than normal.
I have never had one of those, but I know quite a few have. I guess it could be good the way you handled it.

Okay, this is egregious. I got forward settled by Kongo, declared war on him, captured his city, during the very same war he settled that city you can barely see at the top right. For reference, Kongo is at the bottom left. Yes, he settled that far away that I cannot properly have his normal cities and forward settled city on one screen while zooming out as far as I can.

Had a weird start where basically nothing happened - I couldn't see the starting location, apparently had no units to move, all I could see was the brown parchment everywhere. Hit next a couple of times but nothing happened, weird but funny.
Didn't get a screenshot unfortunately, but then I guess it wouldn't have been very interesting anyway!

I got turn 0 losses in Civ 5 a few times. I'm assuming the game couldn't find a "good" spot to put my first settler and so just didn't create one. It looked funny on the HOF though.

Hmm... I had forgotten, but when Kongo settled that first city, I also asked him to stop settling nearby, which he promised. I just got a message: "Kongo's promise to you to stop settling nearby as been fulfilled."
Uh... No. He literally settled an area behind my cities, from his point of view, only four tiles away from two of my cities.

The picture does once again remind me of how beautiful this game is though, with the hidden valley surrounded by mountains, a small river with some rocks in it flowing out of it.
Yeh that was a perfect site for an early campus and or holy district next to it.. amazing mountain bonus.
This is the worst issue of this build, Civ's starting literally 2 tiles from each other. I had hoped china would try to move at least a few tiles from border, but it literally built it's first city right on my border. Which left me with no choice but to wipe them out.

random question but how did you get such a tight zoom? Mine seems to go in only about half as far.
