Great Petra city (if you can get it).

Not really, unless if you have an improvement that can go on desert tiles. If the terrain was all desert hills, then I'd agree. But even just moving over to settle on the plains tile might not be that bad. The desert is a great spot to load up all your districts, and they'll at least get some basic adjacencies.

B-but, I don't like milk...

Edit: After some 15 minutes of my game, I looked at my capital and I noticed how these three longhouses are right next to each other. Looks interesting.

Well, I have a nice collection from the past few days...

First, we have La Venta's Scout Jamboree!!! I mean seriously, how many scouts does a City State need to NOT scout anything? (apparently the answer, in this instance, is FIFTEEN! :p )

Next, we have a typical Russian start...

... oh wait, these Russkis actually seem to be ****oo for Cocoa

Third, is another of many examples on CivF demonstrating how they have "fixed" the starting position proximity problem...

... like, c'mon devs, my Warrior is actually occupying the SAME tile as Norway's Settler!!! :p

And lastly, we have a great example of how Guitarjar can take advantage of a one-tile island next to the Galloping Ghosts Islands wonder...

... of course, you can only build one district (a harbour), but still, it's a waterlogged miracle of usefullness
