If they're lucky, it'll be a snowy planet like Hoth to provide a soft, cushy landing.

Except that, based on its official size, Hoth would have to be made up of something denser than lead to have standard gravity. :p

I have yet to see a nuke used in 600 hours of play time.
There were a lot of nukes flying in my Inca game... All hitting them unpronouncable Phoenician cities, and all of them fired from my nuclear submarines. (Shh... It was a defensive war)

The funny thing is, after we peaced out, Dido became friendly.

All that radiation does funny things to your mind. :crazyeye:

That is actually the same result like in the real timeline. After the bombs were dropped, stance changed and they started conquering the world with different pictures... almost like going for cultural victory instead of domination :D.

Just like in real life: the US nuked Japan and now they're probably the only nation in the world that genuinely loves us.

Too bad I can't call the AI out for having barbarians within their borders like they do me. The Mapuche seem to be entertaining barbarian builders inside their encampment.

Ladies and gentlemen... I present to you the highest UNIMPROVED tile yield ever in my civ career... courtesy of the natural wonder whose name I could never pronounce (who is supposed to only "rarely" erupt but has been going ham this game).

Yes, I know what you are thinking... unfortunately Basil's cathedral is already built in my capital. Still, get Indiana Jones over there to dig that up, and slap in a mine and we are looking at 20+ yield folks. (with Mbanzas so no fear of housing... I'm going to say despite not having freshwater this would be quite an OK city :p )

And it's only turn 147 of 500, so plenty of room for more eruptions and even higher yields! Imagine being Canada and getting your hand on a volcano like that...

Clearly, Canada needs to draft the entire population of Gimli, Manitoba, and send them to Iceland...

While we're on the subject of volcanoes, my brave Inca seem to have found the gateway to hell. And what better way to protect civilization from spawns of ravenous demons? Build a Holy Site right on the gateway! What could go wrong?

Compared to the frigid tundra and ice to the north, the area around the volcanoes could turn out to be the Garden Spot of the Incan Civilization . . .

I did something sort of like that in my multiplayer game I'm playing with my friend (side note, she's starting to get much better!), but mine is far more devious. I started on my own private landmass, while everyone else literally was on a single continent, so I couldn't use my Court of Love powers. But I found this lovely little patch of land between Canada and the Inca, which for the life of me I can't figure out why neither of them ever settled there ... two sources of coal, two rivers, floodplains, horses, deer, cattle ...

Anyway, I marched musketman and my settler all the way over there. Then I brought in Reyna to buy some districts, mostly I desperately needed my Harbor so I could warp Magellan in and use him to get +8 loyalty (with that lovely Mausoleum!) I also spent all my money and faith buying some Great Engineers to give me more districts and rush build some wonders. Hermitage is also still available, I plan to get this city full of great works, and then I'll use it to start my love-conquest of Canada, Inca, and Zululand, lol!

How EVER did you manage to set up a single city there and NOT lose it to loyalty ? this is a mandatory -20 city, so even with reyna and the 2 loyalty cards, that's still -7 counting ???

I bought my Monument right away, and I used Reyna to buy a Harbor so I could warp Magellan there. With the Mausoleum, he gives me 8 Loyalty XD

I used some Engineers to build Bolshoi Theatre and Sydney Opera House, and last time I played with my friend Ottawa and Montreal flipped to me! XD

Ok great moves, but still situational... you need to get magellan, AND have mausoleum... still I'd not noticed about magellan's retirement ability, thx for the tip, it certainly IS a GA that becomes desireable
when playing Eleanor, even without mausoleum !

Australia tried to build the Panama Canal.
