I have both the Dos and Windows version of Civ 1, and I really prefer the Windows version. From what I have seen in the forums, it appears I am a (very)small minority. There are plenty of programming tips and utilities for the Dos version, but I find virtually nothing for the Win version (except some utilities for the Dos version that run in Windows) I would love feedback on this, I am very curious about this. Thank you in advance.

I like both versions. Windows has better graphics, but no animations (the images are still)
and the music are annoyingly short snippets. But I like to move the map around. If I could
have the DOS music in the Windows version I would play more of the Windows.

I find the Civ I for Windows a bit strange. Maybe it's just because I'm used to the DOS version. Probably most people began with it.

Let me put in a good word for CivNet. Same as CivWin but multiplayer capable.

I don't use the multiplayer, but the music in CivNet is wonderful! Not just snippets but nice music representing each civ playing throughout. Graphics are good. Easy interface. It looks good and SOUNDS good! Ebay used to have a lot of new boxes of CivNet with CD and full manual. I have not looked lately.

Definitively DOS version. Its good old classic. And works nice with dosbox.

I play the windows version. It plays faster than the DOS version.
Don't know the differences though.

I grew up with an old Mac version on my macintosh classic brick of a box. Loved it. Have bee playing the dos version for the last 10 years or so. I only play about 3 -4 times per year, whenever I get the itch to play.

THIS GAME IS SO GOOD!! (sorry for the caps).
but this is rightfully saying; I'm thrilled to still play this game and share 15 year old stories. Where can you see that?
What game survives so many years?
