Hi,

I have Civ3 Complete working great on my desktop PC running Win2K SP4.

I just got a new Asus EeePC 701 laptop. I set the resolution to 32bit 1024x768 and installed Civ3 Complete on it. It is running WinXP SP4.

When I start the game on the XP laptop. The screen flickers for a couple of seconds and then goes back to the Desktop. No error message, nothing.

Please help !

Thanks.

Derek

How much RAM and what kind of video card does it have? You may need to back off a bit on the resolution, to 16 bit/800x600.

512MB RAM, Celeron-M 900Mz processor and Intel UMA graphics.

I thought it only played on 1028x768 resolution minimum ?

Surprisingly, Civ4 plays on the machine (though very slowly)

My guess is that Civ4 is new enough to be picking up the graphics card, which I assume is an integrated one, and not a separate card. I suspect that your Civ3 program is not picking up the card. You might want to check with Firaxis tech support if this is a known video card issue.

You must mean WinXP SP2.

WinXP SP3 was just released.

Beyond that, I am no help.
