I would like to be able to edit maps at work but I am not allowed to actually install a game....the editor would be ok though. (I have the admin rights for the machine but I don't want ppl thinking that I am actually playing a game) Does anyone know what files are necessary? I plan to investigate this on my own but if someone has already done the footwork there is no need to replicate.

If this has been posted before I apologize and ask for a link to the thread. Also, if this has been shown on Poly please post a link to the thread over there. Thanks.

Looks like it needs the game. I downloaded the new hacked editor here on my other comp and tried to run it without civIII and it says: cannnot locate Civilization III, it also has a error message that says cannot find and it gives the should be location of the unit palettes folder. Looks too bad for u Palehorse.:(

It also needs Civ3mod.bic. That's how it determines the default rules, and that's also why Firaxis tells us not to modify that file.

It is always a good idea to back up any files you are changing, just in case you make a big mistake... ;) No wait... We never make mistakes....
