Civ3 PTW Patch v1.21f Released!

Uhm, maybe you kids want to settle this outside? The 1.21f release thread is hardly the suited place for England vs Scotland discussions. Although I do agree that with the slow pace of the European release of 1.21f one yearns for alternative topics of discussion.

I'm sorry if this has been asked already, but this is important.

Does anyone know how long it is going to be until a UK version of v1.21f is to be released.

The current US version is incompatible.

I would be very grateful for a response.

Would I be right to assume that the 1.21f patch installs by default as a subdirectory under my Civ III directory? Because I've tried installing, uninstalling, and reinstalling it in that fashion twice, now. Each time, there were no executables within the subdirectory that did anything with the patch, and no executable to run the game from there. Running Civ III as usual from its own directory brought up the 1.07 version in the bottom left hand corner of the screen.

On the other hand, installing the patch within the Civ III directory made it crash while loading.

I suggest installing it on the desktop, and go with what it suggests.

Soro, as I answered in the thread you opened in the Tech Support forum, I think you may be trying to install a PTW patch over a vanilla Civ3 game. This will not work. For Civ3, you need the Civ3 1.29f patch.

Running Civ III as usual from its own directory brought up the 1.07 version in the bottom left hand corner of the screen.

That sounds weird....like it was a pirated version of civIII. But that doesn't make sense, because one would try to patch using the 1.29 Civ3, not the 1.21 PTW.

Nah. . . Padma's got it right, as it does sound like he's using a 1.21 PTW patch for Vanilla Civ.

Soro - This is the link for the Civ3 1.29f patch. Try this one, and see if it works.

I've failed trying to get the patch from the official site. I was forced to download a mirror from Civfanatics. :\

The link I just posted? Try it again, I was just d/ling it from them. . . .

It is an FTP server. Do you have those blocked where you're at? Maybe that's why.

Well, I already downloaded the mirror from Civfanatics, so there's no point. When I tried though it didn't work at all, it kept on failing. I was on AOL, Mature Teen parental controls at that time.
