Civ3 Vanilla or Civ3 Conquests

I assume most people play conquests patched to v1.22 now so I was wondering who likes what better.

Hard to know how to vote, as I like the Vanilla introduction movie, but like both the Vanilla version and Conquest version of the game. They pose different challenges based on the ability to modify them, and what you can and cannot do with buildings and units.

So I would have to say I like the Vanilla intro and both games.

No, the choices are the intro (The short .bik you see in the beginning and the menu (The picture and music you here when the intro stops). But a see what you are saying for the gameplay.

You haven't? It's pretty much the same as conquests but eithout the cutscene and different music.

Conquests still has some unpatched bugs and unbalanced options (some of them are more or less fixable in the editor), but it's certainly better as a whole then Vanilla.

Ahem. The question was which intro and menu was liked best. I see no reason why anyone would think Vanilla was better than Conquests, except for the great intro movie.

whats the difference between c3c and c3gold ? shouldnt gold be equal complete?

Civ3 Gold is Vanilla + PTW. I don't have it, so I don't know what its intro/menu is like. C3C is Conquests, bought as the expansion pack. It has a bunch of people fighting as an intro, and a samurai in front of a castle as the menu. Complete has a bunch of gears in a machine as the menu (similar to the box art), and I don't know what it has as an intro. PTW has no intro (or at least, the version that came with Conquests doesn't), and has a spaceship as a menu. Vanilla has the Tower of Babylon as both intro and menu.

I voted for Vanilla for both intro and menu. I suppose the Conquests ones emphasizing the combat made sense given the name of the expansion, but I find the Vanilla ones more pleasing. I actually redid my Conquests one to be a widescreen version of the painting Knights Duelling by Eugene Delacroix instead of the samurai, and haven't seen much of that particular samurai since.

Btw, the title does make it sound like you're asking which version people prefer playing more. I'd suggest adding something about intro/menu to the title.

Was it a spaceship? It looked to me like an oil refinery or iron melter, with all those wires hanging from the chimneys.

I voted for the Conquest menu and movies because I can't even remember what they were in vanilla-PTW. Guess they weren't that good, since I completely forgot them

It's been a very long time since I've seen either the Vanilla or the Conquests intro movies, so I grabbed the chance to watch 'em - and I still like the conquests one better.

It's a view going up a tower that is more advanced as it goes up. With other scenes in between.

Civ4 will never be viable for that title, no matter how many gamers like it.
