I have created a map to play and adjusted the rules and scenario. Then I save the file with the extension .biq in C:\Program Files (x86)\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III\Conquests\Scenarios. I am not able to view the file using windows explorer, nor is it able to find it. Windows explorer can find the temporary file that is generated in the appdata folder. In addition, and more importantly, I cannot find it once I have started up Civilization III Conquests. :(
Please help, I would really like to play this creation of mine.

I apologize if this thread is in the wrong location, I am new to this forum.

Win7 makes it difficult. I have the same problem all the time. The only solution I found is to save your biq file on desktop and copy to Conquest/Conquest folder. You have to do it each time you do some changes to your biq file.
If you want to find your missing biq file you can do it by opening any scenario in that c/c folder and when you click open or save into c/c folder you should find your file between other visible files. Your s probably will have locked status. Open it and save on desktop. I hope this helps.

So I assume you have already done a full search of your computer? I remember when I started doing editor work on my disc copy, I had trouble finding it in the Conquests/Scenarios folder and actually it never showed up in the folder, but it showed up ingame. I then discovered that it had saved it in the PTW scenarios folder.

Thank you very much register. This works nicely. :)

Unfortunately, I also now have another problem. Whenever I attempt to play any of my custom maps, the music cuts and plays on a loop like a broken record and then when I attempt to exit the game, it stops responding. Is there a fix for this?

Thank you Nathiri, this was not the case.

A few thoughts:

  1. Heaven only knows how (I am fairly tech savvy ... ) but my "main" Civ files wound up being installed in my "\Programs (x86)" file whereas Conquests somehow wound up in "\Programs."
  2. What are your file view settings? (I'm assuming you're running as the Administrator or with Admin privileges.) (a) Try right-clicking on your "root" Civ3 folder; under "General" make sure that "Hidden" is not checked and (b) check under the security tab to make certain that you do indeed have all Admin privileges checked (in the Advanced Settings on the Security tab, you should see Permission as "Full Control" as well as applied to "All Sub-folders etc."
  3. Lastly, from the Control Panel, under Folder Options, make sure you have "Show Hidden Folders etc." selected (hey, you never know.)

Best,
Oz

Windows 7 and large versions overly sensitive to the contents of the folder "Program Files" and the like. The easiest way to deal with this by installing Civ3 to another arbitrary directory (my option - d:\losttime\civ3\) :-)
