Civ4 BTS Patch v3.13 is up

guys,

I'm in worki so cant check, I have a custom scenario map of Europe18, I've made it my own, cities placed in right position, religion correct etc, Will I have to completely rebuild it to have it compatible with this patch? Or can I just start a new game on the existing map and it will be a 3.13 game?

anyone?????

Have a question. Do we have to install the previous patches or they are already included in this one?

They're included in this one.

It appears that this patch changes vanilla (and warlords?) such that games with locked assets will not load. :gripe: Anyone playing games with protected assets e.g. GOTM, SGOTM should set up a dual install before applying the patch.

While I understand that this may annoy you, it is quite logical that these games will not load. The locked assets option is there to avoid changes to the code affecting your game (whether it is to avoid cheating or for other reasons). A patch does just that, it changes the game code.

I miss that too:sad: I hope Firaxis bring it back in a later patch. That and the culture points readout in the the city screen.

Aww. I really LIKED that screen. It was much more helpful than the clunky screen where you had to individually click on every single leader to see how they felt about others. :(

Please bring it back!

The patch is great news. A huge THANK YOU to all who worked on it. A few caveats, though. They could perhaps be borne in mind for the future...

1) The loss of the perhaps unstylish though certainly useful Glance Screen. (I voted 'yes' in Colee's poll - unsurprisingly...) Bring on the mod!

2) The obligation to liberate cities on the same continent to an already existing colony rather than having the option to set up another colony. You may for political reasons wish to keep your already existing colony small - so that it doesn't get ideas above its station and want to lose its vassal status.

3) It appears from the Change Log that the Blessed Sea bug has not been fixed. With any luck, though, this is just an oversight in the recording of the fact, and it has in fact been done.

I fully understand that it would affect BTS games with protected assets. It's the fact that it affects vanilla games (and maybe warlords games) as well that is the annoying part.

I still get the movies crash, anyone else getting that?

Other than that everything seems to run great.

I still get the movie crash for the Intro movie and Wonder movies.

I started a thread in the Bug Report forum, but I need anyone who experiences this error to post their System Specs so Firaxis can nip this problem once and for all with their next patch. I miss my Wonder movies! :)

Other than that, it works great!

Ok, that's a bit weird indeed. Maybe it changes something in vanilla (and Warlords) but this change is undocumented...

@ ButSam: You can turn the intro movie off via the Civilization 4.ini file in your My Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword folder. Just find the line that states:

; Set to 1 for no intro movie
NoIntroMovie = 0

Set it to 1. See what happens. You can also disable wonder movies in the options, I believe.

My build screen looks similar, but not exactly the same. Strange. Not sure if I should completely uninstall Bts and go-again. If anybody has a recommend, I would appreciate it.

The build version and build date are the same, but no 3.1.3 displayed.

I recommend Uninstall/reinstall. There may be other things that didn't install properly as well. At the very least, the game will probably not let you play mutliplayer or other games with Locked Assets (e.g., BotM...which hopefully will start this month!)

Got it fixed with the original release of BtS, but thank you for the post; others will probably find it useful. I was about to be very mad when it wouldn't run until I found this out. The game runs just fine other than this, plus wonder movies disabled in the Profile Options. I miss wonder movies though! :)

It did take awhile when I first got BtS to figure out what was wrong... all pre-BtS movies worked fine, but now even movies that used to work (such as the original Civ4 Intro movie, and wonders in Civ4/Warlords) do not work.

I downloaded the patch (from the Firaxis site and not in-game) and installed it just fine. Didn't have a lot of time to play because I was watching baseball. Just went in and played a few turns, looked at the Civilopedia to verify that the link CTD was gone. One problem I did have was the game hung when I tried to get into the MP lobby. Anybody else have this problem?

Are you sure the latest patch did this? Have you tried your vanilla games since getting BTS. As I'm sure you're aware, BTS patches vanilla and warlords when it installs (no idea why). I don't think this was a matter of convenience but rather necessity. Perhaps this patch messes with vanilla also.

You probably already know this, just pointing it out in case.

Are you sure the latest patch did this?

Positive. I reinstalled from scratch and patched up to BTS 3.02 (Vanilla 1.74 & Warlords 2.13) which is what I had before I applied BTS 3.13. I could then load the game successfully. I set up a dual install for vanilla & warlords, tested it and then applied BTS 3.13. I then tried to load the game and it failed with a protected assets error. However it still worked from the dual install I had created earlier.
