What about a copy and paste function? I tried making a pretty detailed rule list earlier and it was kind of bothersome to have 6-7 AND statements that all stayed the same but had to input them all again to just change 1 for the next OR statement.
That one is on my to-do list. For now open the rule file in notepad and copy the group manually. GIve it a unique group number and it should read in fine.

Also, what is extra base food?
Net extra food. For each plot, it takes base food - 2. Base basically mean unimproved. It will be more useful once I fix the range bug.

I had ambitions of various yield calculations, but had some issues with some of the API calls. I could have worked around it to calculate some improved yield values but I realized that modeling which improvements to which terrian might be matter of personal opinion. Plus the number of permutations might be a little unweldy. I figured the more complex things should await some feedback.

Remo was right. Stopping then starting again worked--sort of.

It worked great for a while, but after 31 maps it said something like "cannot save map" (not exact wording) and then stopped. I had to exit Civ4 altogether and start again to restart.

Not complaining--this is a great contribution, and I hope we can work out the kinks.

Were you doing duel or tiny maps with a lot of civs? There is a bug in Civ4 where if two civs are in contact in one regeneration they remain in contact in subsequent regenerations. Dianthus made a change via the SDK to disable the Regen button whenever two civs are in contact like that. It probably said it was unable to regenerate or something like that. That is normal.

Next time write down what it said so we can verify. Those messages are persistant in the log until you exit Civ4.

Thanx for your devotion to our cause :), some note: Sheep in Happiness resources and not in Health - is it a description bug or is it modelled like this?

It is a bug. Replace the file in your install directory the one attached for the correction.

Thanx! And to use it in alignment with HoF do I just load the save file it created in the CivIV saves directory?

About the game file, of course :D

Well, let me rephrase: a map from sequence generated by Map Finder, it is saved in MApfinder saves. I select a map and want to play. So I just should load the save and HoF will consider it OK, right?

I figured out my problem: the mapfinder stops if there is a start with AI in viewing range. I've noticed that the option to "regenerate map" disappears in general when this happens too.

So the mapfinder is working fine for me now.

Thanks.

EDIT: Sorry, I hadn't read your comments above when I first wrote this -- should of done that.

Yes. Assuming the original game was ok to start with. The Mod doesn't enforce the HOF Rules, it merely warns if a save would not be acceptable. You can generate whatever you want for you own use. ;)

Thanx for finally clearing this out :) Off for a fight.

I generated about 10 maps with the finder. Now, I've tried several different times and cannot get it working. It says "Map finder active", but just sits there and doesn't regen. I used the same .rul that worked before. I've restarted several times, rebooted, etc. I broke it somehow.

Strange. Not a lot of information to work with here. You could try deleting the mod and re-installing it.

Restarting Civ worked for me. Maybe try shift-clearing cash?

I've tried it and I'm happy with it. Seems rather slow, but it generated some nice maps. :)

Thank you for your hard work, guys.

Related question: Is there some player-created rulesets to try out ? I think it would be interesting to see what some players like in the way of maps. I'm content to use the default ruleset, which seems pretty good to me, but I'm curious as to what creations players have come up with.

My current ruleset is 1x river, 1x floodplain, 1x corn. I run it on great plains.

I'm waiting for the next version, so I can specify 1x river-flooodplain-corn on the same tile. :D

It shouldn't run any slower than if you generated the maps yourself. The intention is that you should leave it running when you're doing something else, such as sleeping or working. Of course you might have trouble doing either of those while thinking about all of those lovely maps waiting for you... :mischief:

river-floodplain-corn? Holy...

Waitasecond. That's impossible.

Erm.. that's what happened last night, heh! Tossed and turned, waiting to see what beautiful maps I would get for the HoF game. Got a very nice one to rumble with :D

My current ruleset for major 2 is 8 river and 1 stone and 1 food resource. Usually generates 2% usable maps I think.
