isn`t Stone a strategic resource

208,Happiness Resource,1
209,Health Resource,0
210,Strategic Resource,0
211,Food Resource,0
301,Base Commerce,13
302,Base Food,35
303,Base Production,20

And what do the "Base" values depict - in this example Base Food, as I understand it, only adds up to 35 if you include the hidden tiles of the fat cross including the hidden pigs... In other cases Base values are lower than the full fat cross... This confused me today, even thinking, there might be some spoiler information in here... :crazyeye:

Base food seems to be the amount of food in tiles you can see.

You forgot to mention, that its now standalone and does not require V1.0 anymore :D
I did forget about adding the ocx to the install. :) I am glad it worked. :goodjob:

Anyway one more bug (V1.1b4):

When trying to delete a file immediately after looking at a number of images it produces an error and does not delete the file - clicking on the file and waiting a couple of seconds solves this - might be my machine though

It sounds like you are moving pretty fast when this happens. Other than hitting keys like mad, is there anything I should do to reproduce this? :mischief:

Stone is in the Quarry Resource category. Strategic Resources are all the ones not visible in the ancient age. I suppose I could put it into the Strategic Resource category, too.

Does anyone else have an opinion on this?

dutchfire, has it right. Otherwise it would be a spoiler.

I am not moving that fast, actually I do have issues with the Rename/Move/Delete Buttons, I do not have screens of this (yet ;) ) but e.g. if I have a number of Saves and rename one of them, trying to imediately afterwards delete or rename another one produces a similiar error. Even ending the program and restarting it does not solve the problem. Doing weird things, like checking or unchecking the "move first" button between renaming two saves solves it...

What confused me here is that e.g. Fur is in the Camp Resources and the Happiness Resources category - which makes sense, so I looked for Stone in the Strategic Resource category - and only later saw it in the Quarry Resource Category...

I was just being a smartass. ;) No need to get screen prints of those. I did some checking and was able to get some errors when I did a bunch of things in sequence. I think that I am not giving the OS enough time to release resources. I am sprinkling some commands strategically throughout the code to let the OS catch up. I that doesn't work I will have to do some research. I will post an update once I feel like I have the problem licked. Thanks. :goodjob:

In hindsight it makes sense. I was thinking more in terms of a big bucket to put all the non-ancient resources than what the name implies. I only ask for opinions to see if anyone else cares one way or another.

Hi,
Beta 4 is working great. Do I need to uninstall the older version from the Control Panel, before installing the new version? I have been. Just curious.

I've got a couple of Map Finder program questions/suggestions if I may.

When one goes to File->Set Directory could there be a Create New Folder option?
Instead of just OK and Cancel?

And would it be possible to right click on the save name or picture to get a "Find File in Explorer" option. Or maybe just "Locate File on Disk". I would use that as an easier way to see the full size screen shot, and I also like to manually move the save.

These would just be icings on the cake, which I love already. Thank you!

I don't know if it is necessary but it doesn't hurt anything either.

Yes. I had that turn off but I guess turning it on wouldn't hurt anything.

How about setting it up so that double-clicking the image launches it in your default jpg viewer program? I am not sure about launching explorer, though. (ie. the equivalent to double-click it in explorer.) The only issue is that if you don't close the viewer, it will be in use if you use any of the buttons.

As for moving, why don't you use the move button? I didn't mention it but you can move and rename at the same time. One of the things I did with this version is get it to default the install to the My Document\My Games folder so it would be easier to find your saves from the Civ4 Load option.

Thanks. It's there for when you click to 'Move' a save.

This sounds great. Leave explorer out of it.

It seems a pain to have to tell it where to move it. I just find the save, cut it, click to desktop, then click on a Saves folder shortcut. But I see what you mean now about the 'recommended' save folder being in My Games. That might be quicker/easier. Is there any way for it to remember where you last moved it to? (But I guess some would think that was not so good maybe.)

Thank you.

Right now it uses the HOF ini save file path when it opens. I don't think I want to get into anymore saved paths. ;)

What *I* recommend is creating your other folders in the Civ4 Map Finder path. For example, I have a folder called "Played". That's where I put games when I load them via the program. You could have any number of folders that way.

Also, there is a HOF Menu which has an option to change the HOF ini save file path (ie. Map Finder Save Path) to the current directory. So you could create a folder called "GaunletV_Saves" for map finder to save to and then a "GuanletV_Played" for when you play them.

I just have to applaud this fast support  :goodjob:

Sadly there is another issue:

whenever I click on the Image itself (left or rightclick does not make a difference) there is a CTD and windows reports a nullreferenceexception

Well, that's what I get for doing a quick last minute change like that. :(

You must not have a program associated with the *.jpg extension in Windows explorer. In any case, I have made another quick change to handle any execption. Plus it should take a double-click now instead of a single click.

Update: >>Beta6<<

Changes:
  • Fixed double-click image option to handle exceptions.

Stupid question but what am I doing wrong when I unzip the download on the HOF page, and start the install, and get this? I have the .net framework and everything installed.

Do you have admin rights for your machine? If it is you home PC you should, but with a work machine you might not.

BTW, the web page download is VB6 and doesn't use .Net. The Beta5 download a couple post back is the .Net 2.0 version. You might want to try that one instead.

Map finder was working great for me before I formatted a few days ago. The original release still works fine but when trying to run the mapfinder program after installing the beta6 version I get a "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135)" Not sure what the cause is. I have office installed, going to reinstall VB later and see if that fixes it.

On a side not I am getting blue/cyan boxes over my city names and over some of the text in game. Not sure what is causing that either. I'll get a screen shot of that up later.

Did you download .Net Framework 2.0? Beta6 requires that.

That did solve that problem, I didn't have to install it before but I must have installed it at one point or another.

However when I run mapfinder now it gives a windows error. I'll mess around with it later.
