Attack of the Show is going to have Jessie Smith demo Civ4.

It's an hour long show and starts in a little less then 2 hours (4pm Eastern). I have no clue what kind of info they show, or if it will just be the same E3 preview.

I thought I would mention it ahead of time so that you can see it the first time it comes around. The show will be repeated at 9pm Eastern also.

Thks for the info, I missed the 4pm show but was it any good? I'll try to watch the repeat.

I actually missed it it the first time around.

I will watch it the next time it comes on.

Here are the show notes about it:
Firaxis producer Jesse Smith gave us a demo of the upcoming Sid Meier’s Civilization IV, the latest version of the popular strategy game, which will deliver more dividing and conquering than ever before. It’s also going to be in full 3D and offer a simplified combat system, different game modes, and modding-friendly features. Firaxis also promises that it will have the “most addictive gameplay of any strategy game ever created.”

It’s coming out in November, but you can visit www.civ4.com now.

Sounds interesting. I'm definitly going to check this out tomorow, thanks for the heads up.

well.... if i can get some time with the one tv in my house that gets g4(WOWdigital cable box) ill try to bare my way through the pitiful excuse for entertainment for long enough to give you guys a summery, i might watch the next showing... at midnight

UPDATE:

now the new info to me

city strucures are showen in the city square, not surrounding terrain

"less but better units"
"AI SDK will be released to change the ai's code"

i jus watched it now... eh, there's not any new info on it. u do get to zoom really really close into the cities - so u can see that a size 1 city (madras) had only a few huts scattered around, while a larger cities had much more buildings, one of which even had the pyramids. the missionary unit, was shown really close up, altho it looks moreorless the same. i'm wondering now, since the unit carries a cross and bible, will it differ in appearance between the diff. religions...

The Pyramids in the city is really small. I want to see it bigger!
They get a nice close-up of a couple of the great-people. Someone's got a telescope. Some of them can also build an acamdamy (is this new?)
When Jesse changes a civic choice he gets a message saying something like "The revolution has begun!" The message is in the same place that Civ3MP messages are. (Top left of the screen)
I notice Elephants as units and they even attack with them. Pretty Cool.
Also I seem to see a Barbarian city... It's got the black border, black flag but I can't quite tell what it is.

That's really all they showed. Is any of this new?

oh god...missionaries carrying a cross and bible? if you thought the myopic view of missionaries wasn't bad enough...

The game looked good but I was dissappointed with the demo. It felt sort of unprofessional. Nothing new about the features. He'd just comment that the feature was new or cool then move on. The only thing I liked about the demo was seeing the graphics and zooming in motion, which looked much better than I had expected from the screenshots.

Could you help me out with the times? I don't quite get the American times. Is there another one coming today? When is "June 23 / 12pm ET / 9am PT"? I thought 12pm already passed on the east coast. I don't want to wait until Sunday.

If not, can someone tell what time will it be here then (Eastern European daylight saving time)? It's 11 now ("11 am", because if it would be 11 pm, I'd say it's 23 :p ).

Sorry about my stupidity. :D

if you are gmt +2 then you are 6 hours ahead of EasternTime(ET) I live in poland and it is 10:31 AM and i am gmt+2 or is it +1 one :P

So it's 7 pm (19:00) then. Ah, that makes sense. Thanks. :)

EET is GMT +2 but now that it's daylight saving time, it's GMT +3, if I understand correctly. For you Polish, it'd be +1 and +2, respectively.

Time zones always confuse me. :crazyeye:

me too sometimes. No problem though. and is there an actually video about civ4 going to play?

Would anybody just record this TV broadcasting...?
...and maybe share this with us here at Civfanatics? :))

I would be soooo kind....

I think that's going to be hard, but I would like it very much if someone did, because I have no chance at getting on at 5 AM in the morning. :(

Wow. That wasted 30 minutes of my life. That show and whole channel is so unprofessional. Anyway, they spent maybe 5 minutes on civ. You got to see a little bit of the graphics, but not much. It isn't worth watching to be honest.

yeah. Luckily I turned the TV on right when Jesse was coming on. Like he said, only interesting thing was seeing the graphics in motion. Nothing we didn't already know.
