after i install civ4 as soon as i complete the installation it say Windows (R) Firewall Exception List has stopped working

then when i try to run the game it says the same thing and fails to start

before i refurbished my cpu i ran civ4 perfectly with no problems so i don't think its a vista problem any suggestions?

Mine did that as well. You can set an exception in the firewall, which might fix it. Also make sure that the port used for multiplayer isn't blocked or locked out. That will make the installation and game start fail as well.

If all else fails, disable the firewall when installing, then create a manual exception for it. And remember, only use one firewall program. Disable Vista's if you use something like ZoneAlarm. :)

i tried making a exception and turning off the firewall completely

i have an anti virus named webroot which doesn't let me customize it much

also i don't know how to find the multiplayer port

I think the game finds the port automatically, but try turning off the anti virus when installing. It may work. :)

i then tried installing in safe mode no luck

this really sucks because no strategy game amounts to the depth of civ

also

i was thinking maybe a windows update was the prob ill try uninstalling all the updates back until the time before i refurbished
