I try running nexus and I get a crash message from window I get click debug and get a debugger message stating: "New instance OF Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 running"

I can play around with the tools sometimes but I get messages stating "Nexus has lost its connection to the game build! Would you like to try restarting the game?"

I'm using Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 3 and Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.73GHz

I retrieved the attached error report during one iteration if that's helpful. If there's any more information I need to post or if I should post this message somewhere else, let me know.

Sincerely,
Bill Bisco

I second this, its a common problem, with a few threads mentioning it. It would be nice if Greg or someone could let us know you acknowledge the problem and are working on fixing it. I can't do any modding until this is fixed!

I found changing (for all users) the permissions for the nexus and civ 5 program to run as administrator, with full permissions for the user and then run The SDK launcher from outside steam, ie the actual executable in the folder worked fine, tho note that steam must be running for civ 5 to execute in the background, or it will start automatically anywa I think. Executing from inside steam, still fails to link to the game instance, or first time, will merely run the game itself and you will find yourself at the game main menu.

This should help most with this problem, its just a permissions problem from c: drive configured as read only. Don't change this setting as it opens the comp up to missbehaving programs (and can take an hour to set for all folders); but, as I describe above, change permissions for the programs themselves.

Hope this works for you too.

[Edit, also note that 3D viewer isn't working right now anyway, but all the rest will be ok, unit viewer and file browser etc, and limited terrain editing for those noot compressed, which is the snow ones, and thats about it]

OK, since Gods and Kings was installed, this no longer works again, CIV5.exe crashes as before with c00005 code... not sure why this would break it... but does apparently
