CivAssist II

CivAssist II 30-Oct-2016

Just downloaded the new version and noticed that several of the Alerts flash in the alert box but don't stay. One was a change of government and the other was a new tech. Not all of them do this though.

Any suggestions?

Edit: I noticed some of the flashed alerts are old alerts. As in 'New tech to buy: Chivalry' flashed in the alerts box several times.

Ainwood - I don't think you answered my question from a few days ago. I use CivAssist on the same game on two different computers. Is there a way to transfer the civassist data for planning cities between the computers? I can't seem to find where you are storing that information. Does the new export feature provide this?

Thanks.

The new version works wonderfully! My problems with displaying PCX files in the world map seem to have disappeared, so I am looking forward to starting a new game and planning my cities without the hassle of copying and pasting into MS Paint. Thank you again!

Sorry, no it doesn't. The city planning stuff is stored in the registry, so we'd have to redesign the entire system to get it to transfer between two computers. You can always save a picture of the world map where you've planned the cities.

@Yaype: Thanks for the .pcx files. Tomas had fixed the problem before I even knew you'd sent them! :D

I remember someone mentioned that with CivAssist, you could click on a tile and It would tell you if the tile would have any resources in the future.

I was playing with the animated GIF function (v2.0.2024). I have a question/request: how do I deselect all saves in the archive, other than one at a time? My archive has 238 saves! ;)

As I remember from COTM13, the deselection did not work everytime so I tried the animation with just a few files selected to see if it worked before chosing the ones I really wanted. I think the process was:

# Click on the first file in the archive.
# Shift click on the last file.
# Click on the tick and all files are deselected.
# Click on any file.

Yes - its a bug. I'll post a new version tonight.
@ansarking - sorry, no it doesn't. That's spoiler info, so it won't show that.
@Denniz - need to check myself.

Thank you for a great progam.

I have a suggestion for a feature that would make life a little easier when you want a diplo victory in PTW or VC3. As the game is designed you need to manually count the opponents city sizes and add them together to find out who your opponent(s) is in the vote. In CAII thier is a perfect place to display the population size, the general tab. This should off course only display citys that are visible.

Hello -- me again, wanting to say this: since I have now been able to run your program (have not tried your new version, see that now, will DL now!), I REALLY REALLY LOVE IT, thank you very much! I find it hard to believe that this is something a person can do in spare time, it looks so professional, I cant believe Firaxis isnt paying you for this. You must be a programmer in RL.

Your program is comprehensive and well done. Bravo!

Would you be insulted if I suggested three tiny areas for possible improvements?

1. In the Diplomacy tab, do you think you could make a section entitled "attitude" (or whatever), in which one could see the predicate the other nations have towards you (furious, cautious, polite, etc.)? I still have to go to f4 and manually find that out individually, and I would like to see it. Or would that be hard to implement?
2. On most tabs, when you maximize or enlarge the CivAssist window, the bar (I dont know how to call it: the relevant section of data organized into columns) gets extended too, so that you can widen them out to see more of what is written. I think it is the "Trade Options" tab, however, which does not do this: the bar stays fixed at a smaller maximum width, so that I often have to fiddle with the relevant columns to see what I need to see. Would it be possible to maximize this too?
3. Is there a way to utilize a hot-key to unhide CivAssist when it is hidden? I have only been able to click the little icon top left, but perhaps there could be a hotkey?

Thank you so much for everything!

Alt-Tab works pretty good for me. And I'm pretty sure (haven't played Civ3 in about a week) that when you have the alerts window active, you can use that to jump to various parts of CA2. It will come to the foreground when there are new alerts.

Ah - of course, I knew there was something.

Would it be possible to stop the Alerts window from popping up if all that there is to display is the date? At the moment I have to leave the date off or it keeps popping up every turn.

Alt-Tab doesnt work for me once CivAssist is hidden; it seems the hide/display is treated differently (at least under Win98SE?)

Oh, perhaps one last thing:
My Map View is faulty. No matter what game I play, when I activate the MapView, I will always see strange bits of other screens overlapping (I think it is the f4 screen from previous games, because I can often see Queen Elizabeth's face, even in games where England is not in). Is this a freak incident with me only?

OK, me again -- tried your new version, and now unfortunately I cannot run CivAssist anymore (the same problems as I had posted originally -- tried deinstalling and re-installing, but no luck yet, perhaps later) -- argh! Oh well.

I did however want to post a screenshot of the problem I stated above with the world map -- I ALWAYS get these odd snippets of the f4 screen in my Map View, can you help?
thank you!

EDIT: I seemed not to be able to upload first time, trying again.
