OK, since i turned on the archive thing, CAII for me is going downhill. When i open the save files button, its all empty even though i have 7 saves. So i press the pick file button and this happens:
If you click the "Send E-mail" civassist will attempt to start your mail client and send us info to try and work-out what caused the problem. :0

This program has really got me interested in the game again; it's nice to remove a lot of the tedium. I have several feature requests I hope you might be able to put in.

1) A nice way to display civ relation ships. If you have more than 8 civs (say... 31) it's hell trying to figure out who is at war. I think a grid with each civ on vertical and horizontal, then the intersection would indicate RoP, MPP, and War/Peace status.

2) Probably very hard to do, but I would love to be able to find out available gpt. When I'm trying to cripple the AI by taking all their funds, it's a headache to go to every civ and check availability.

3) An alert for when another civ discovers a tech. Right now you can find out when a new tech first becomes available, but I would like to know how fast other civs are catching up to me, and/or when existing tech prices will drop due to additional research.

New luxury/strategic resource for sale alert should only trigger when an AI has at least one extra.

Might have been posted, but does anyone know how much memory CivAssist II uses? I find it impossible to window to CivAssist in the middle of a game. I'm pretty sure it's because I'm on a POS computer...

Thanks Turner. It sounds like I'm having the same problems as Papafish did, so I'm going to try his fix and see if that helps.

You can buy or sell your last/first and only 'article' to the market. -theoreticaly maybe, but you can- In particular I think the AI will put steep prices on it (if they sell it at all), but it can be bought..... Even if theory only...

Resources and Luxuries aren't grey when the AI has a Trade Embargo against you.

Also, I have never been able to trade the AI for their last resource; I think it's a hard-coded lock (they would never trade rather than they would be insulted); in that case you shouldn't get an alert for it IMO.

This is such an awesome piece of software. :goodjob: I do have a few suggestions for improvements though.

Firstly, I think it would be useful to see how many tiles each of the cities have at their disposal when you're planning new ones. With many cities overlapping it's sometimes difficult to know whether you're planning them too tight or too far apart. Now, what I envision is having the world map view show this below or next to the corruption figures. The format I would suggest has 4 figures for each city: The amount of non-shared land tiles, shared land tiles (divided by the amount of cities sharing them; eg. 6 tiles shared by one other city, 2 tiles shared by 2 other cities would add up to 3,66), non-shared water tiles and shared water tiles. So in effect you would have something like "Tiles 6 / 3,5 / 5 / 1,33". So in this case you could quickly see that with all cities sharing tiles roughly equally, this city could grow to size 9 before having to start using the water tiles.

I was also planning to suggest exactly the same ideas as stagnate's #2 and #3. So I second those motions. :)

Finally, it would be nice if the resizing of different columns in the trade options view could be fixed. It seems that at the moment when you resize a column in one of the boxes, the columns in the other box are automatically resized to what the first one had before it was touched.

I have now successfully reinstalled CivAssistII, but the "World Map" tab STILL has those errors in my screenshot posted above (faces and other tidbits from some f4 screen scattered about); can anyone determine what that can possibly be and how I might repair that? Thank you.

Just a note, I was wrong about the 'they would never do that' message in trading. Sufficient $$$ can overcome that (in this case, 450gpt for military alliance :-P). I still don't know if they'll sell their last resource though, that could be hardcoded.

I'm fairly sure that it is. In all my years of playing, I've NEVER been able to make the AI budge from their strict "no-trade" stance on their last source of a resource. So I'd say that yes, it IS hardcoded. ;)

Small bug: If I have Civ open, and start up CivAssist, staying with the desktop until it loads, I run into some problems. If I move the mouse, it snaps back to the location, although not immediately. If I am quick I may be able to get to minimize, otherwise I need to alt-tab to Civ.

This happens whether the 'improve mouse performance' option is enabled or not.

The workaround isn't bad so no rush on a fix.

I'd like to be able to remove cities in world map, mine or an enemies. That way I can plan city locations for when I capture/destroy a town & or fold up a town into a settler. I usually fold up conquered towns into settlers and place my own towns.

Also if world map could be set to optionally calculate border and corruption according to planned/removed towns, that would be a interesting option.

A bug, besides occasionally crashing, sometimes the civassist icon disappears when you click on it instead of maximizing. If I alt tab to it the icon comes back but it can sometimes be a hassle.

Haven't got the new version yet, but I've got some suggestions:

-[Alerts Window] When a resource/lux is available to buy from an AI, show the number in parenthesis; for example, "New resources to buy: Iron (Persia(3), Rome(6))."
-[Diplomacy Tab] Add some sort of 'relations view' like on the F4 screen of Civ so we can view who they know and what their relations are with other civs. It could be added to the bottom portion when you click on a civ, next to the other information.
Example:
Left Column: Existing information (Civ, Traits, UU, etc.)
Right Column: List of civs they have contact with, and current relations (War/Peace, RoP, MPP.)
-[Culture Screen] 20k/100k dates should account for doubling after 1000 years.
-[World Map] Is it possible to pre-load/keep loaded the graphics for this screen? If it is, add an option to do this on startup so that it takes less time to load the map screen at the expense of some memory. (Default should be off, so that new users don't find their memory getting flooded on the first use.)

Also, I'm having a weird bug when hitting the Escape key while using Civassist - it will minimise itself to the taskbar, but then I cannot restore the window no matter what I do - the in-game button just flashes blue when I attempt to push it, and I can't left or right click on the button in the taskbar. The window also disappears from alt-tab when this happens, and the only way to exit the program is to end the process from the Task Manager.

I find that I have developed is a love/hate relationship with alerts:
  • I absolutely love the ability to click on city names to center the map on them when dealing with unhappiness.
  • I really hate it when it pops up when there is nothing to report, even if I turn the date off. :gripe:
(Also, couldn't alerts just be turned on to start with? Half the time, I forget to turn it on until somebody starts rioting. )
In any case, I do appreciate the fine work you've done creating CivAssist for all us ungrateful complainers. :thanx:

Thanks for a great utility. I am one of those who detest having any city in revolt, but the tedium of paging through 100 cities at the end of each turn got too much for me and I gave the game away. Now that I have the 'city about to riot' alert I am able to play Civ3 again (how hard was that to do Firaxis?)

Could the 'Waste %age' of a city be added on the 'Production' tab please?
