Can I just say that the main Civfanatics site is amazingly good. Lots of useful info about Civ2 that has really helped me.

But the thing that lets the site down is the forum.

To start with it is very, very, VERY slow. I'm not on the internet for very long and most of the time when I come here it is down, a "database error" or "servy busy" is the only thing I see.

I'm a Civ2 player mostly so the fact that the Civ2 forum's seem sort of dead or at least bereft of interesting discussion saddens me. I have Civ3 but it is crap.

Also I always thought strategy games were for intelligent people, but I was so very wrong. A large portion of the poster population seems to be under the age of 12 (they may not be, but seem to be) and the topics in the Offtopic section are frightfully dull. It seems that the same things are discussed over and over until you want to shoot yourself in the head. And the discussions never seem to become heated, which is the sign of a good debate. The posters seem almost afraid to post opinions incase they rock the boat or offend someone.

Lastly I posted my ICQ number so I could chat to some of the people here who do seem mostly friendly. But the first person who contacted me was "Xen" and well, he said some disgusting things, the sort of stuff that belongs in a German porn film. Made me sick to my stomach. I see now that posting my ICQ was a mistake, or maybe "Xen" is just a freak.

So this is just my opinion of course, but I see no reason in staying here until the staff do something to liven the place up a bit.

first off its called cursing- i said nothing you would not hear in any major US city- if your not exposed to it, then I feel sorry for you- but it was far, far, FAR from anything that would be in a porn film. as for the other stuff

-most of the site goers are a bit older then 12- at least that is I remember the poll about ages correctlly

-and the site is slow becasue search has been enabled (I think)

I don't think you will get any sympathy, Suki. As Perfection said, you started a spammy thread in the OT forum advertising yourself as a hot chick, and said you are willing to talk about anything, with an added wink smily and a love smily. You made some people think you are looking for cyber sex! That thread you started is "sexually oriented" and is against the forum rules. If it was not your intention, then see it as a lesson and learn to protect yourself better in the future.

Xen: There are quiet a few perverts on the net, and you don't want to be one of them. Also, some "hot chicks" you talked to on ICQ or chat rooms are probably not girls. You'll be better off adding those self-proclaimed hot chicks to your ICQ's ignore list.
