I've noticed when spiritual, if I switch to universal sufferage for example, or draft... I can not use the civic until the next turn. Yet if I switch to Representation, the effects kick in INSTANTLY. This seems strange.

Even more so, if I build the pyramids, and switch to representation the exact turn the pyramids comes in, I still get the benefits INSTANTLY. No downtime, when you'd think the reverse should be the case here.

Thoughts?

Is that so? - I'm pretty sure I have switched to nationhood and drafted in the same turn.

Maybe not.....

Not to thread jack but I hate the fact that you cannot switch religions and civics at the same time. Then you have to wait 5 turns. Annoying

i haven't noticed that about spiritual, hmmz.

you might be trying it wrong. you can't change to something like organized religion, and pick a state religion on the same turn. but you can adopt OR, go into anarchy, and then pick a state religion on the turn you come out of anarchy. they're two separate anarchies and two separate five-year waiting periods. spiritual civs can do both on the same turn.

I'm sure I did.
I can even tell you more about it :
I (english) got attacked by stalin.
The sucker landed cavalries and canons next to my capital garded by 1 warrior and 1 archer.
Any normal player would have taken the city amphibiously but no, the AI wanted to bomb my defenses down:crazyeye: .
I immediately switch to nationhood and slavery, updgraded both units, drafted another, whipped a 4th.
short story : The city held, the stack got killed, I took out most russian cities from the sea, Stalin capitulated to me :p

Alright, I think I may have noted a bug then. Looks like sometimes you have to re-click on the city bar and then the draft pannel for the new option to show up.

Same thing almost with spies. It seems when I do destruction to a city, the hammers are not updated until I re-click on the city bar. Maybe it's a graphics card glitch.

that one i see myself. i think only in vanilla, but i'm going by memory there, i swap back and forth between both versions. if i change production while going thru cities by arrow keys, when i go back out to the world view the city shows what it used to be making. if i then go into my city and hit enter, it updates and now shows from the outside what it's really making, even tho i didn't change anything the 2nd time. didn't occur to me that it might be related to a graphics card, my guess was that it just takes a while for the new information to travel to the city's billboard *giggle*.

Well while on the same topic. When you hit the option to show tile VALUES, at the get-go... It tends to magnify the tile prod-icons, but it doesn't behave right. Many rounds later you'll see see some tiles magnified that are NOT even in use. You have to double click the city bar to go inside the city, then exit back out. Then it will properly show what tiles are being active and what are not.

O_o

that one i never noticed! i don't play with show yields on all the time. i just turn it on when it's "terraform frenzy" time at state propery or biology, or when dotmapping in my head. or when picking what to sabotage :mischief:.

btw i'm assuming these aren't adding to my WFYABTOT (off-topic) limit since they're in a thread you started ;).
