I've seen several new posters with Test of Time lately. I'm wondering if ToT is being sold as an individual game, or is it being included in a multi-game package? Or is it just a coincidence that long-time ToT owners are just finding CFC. I know the Civ 2 Multiplayer Gold Edition (MGE) does not seem to be sold anymore, and Civ 2 2.42 (CD ROM Jewelbox Only) is sold at discount racks, plus packaged in some multi-game CDs.

Just curious. BTW, welcome to CFC pyros_talishar. You might want to have a look at out Game Of The Month, (GOTM), here.

I found my copy of ToT in the discount racks, but I'm not sure how widely available it is. ToT was included in some Australian PC magazine a while ago, so that might explain some of it (considering p_t is Australian).

You're really desperate for new GOTM members, aren't you starlifter? Maybe now is the time to actually start one for ToT, instead of luring them in first and then forcing MGE down their throats... That way ToT will never get off the ground.

I always mention GOTMs to new posters, in case they have not learned about it yet. But anything, like Democracy, PBEM, MP, OCC, Succession, etc. that people like to play is fine, too!

I have ToT, but uninstalled it a long time ago in favor of MGE. I also run 2.42 classic (with Cedric Greene's great Downgrade patch), as lots of games tend to use it. ToT is not used by very many Civ 2 players, and you can't "upgrade" to it like 2.42 can be upgraded to MGE, for instance.

ok im kinda new to this whole civfanatics place and im kinda new to civ multiplayer... i use to play the original many years ago but i have to ask u guys would u care to explain what these initials mean?? (the ones in the replys) ei: GOTM, PBEM, MP, OCC... you guys are talking all about these things im lost...

GOTM: Game of the month: A fun game of Civ2 (not ToT) featured here at CFC, check out the forum

PBEM: play by email: a form where you play the game and after finishing a turn you submit it to the other players

MP: multi-player

OCC: One City Challenge: forgot the link

succession: one player starts a single player game, plays for a few turns, then the next player continues, then the next, etc.
