Civilization 5 failing to update on Steam

Hey guys, new here, so go easy on me.

As the title suggests I am having trouble updating Civ 5 on steam. I know the game is meant to automatically update but this doesn't appear to be happening.

I currently have version 1.0.2.21.

1.0.2.21 is the latest version, so you don't really have a problem, everything's working fine .

Ahhh okay cheers dude, my friend is using a Mac and just tried to have a game of Civ with him, apparently we can't play together his version is: 1.0.1.705 (106074).

Any ideas what he can do in order to fix this?

The Mac version of Civ5 has sadly not yet gotten the latest patches , but it seems Aspyr (the guys who ported Civ5 to the Mac) are already working on it.
So you can't do anything at the moment, besides waiting :/.
Alternatively your friend could try to install the Windows version of Civ5 on his Mac via Wine (if he has the Steam version, then he can download the Windows version for free), but I'm not sure if that's really an easy thing .

Damn I see, that's a bit of a shame, you would think that potentially the patches would be released at the same time to avoid any disappointment. Ahwell, we will wait for an outcome I guess.
