Civilization 5

What year would you envisage these sea and sky cities being available, and how much would this lead to the distortion of the time scale?

i envision building sea and sky cities as soon, as units that can build them, become available

the future is unwritten. there cannot be any "distortion of time scale"

Well, I wouldn't imagine they would put in such a futuristic feature until at least 2200, so that would mean that an extra 150 turns minimum would be added onto the game, and that' just until they would start to be used. This means that the Future would become an disproportionately large part of the game. The game that is meant to be somewhat based on history and the past.

I don't like the idea of there being any sort of future tech tree and therefore futuristic technology. It doesn't fit within the context of the game. Nobody knows what the future holds - I don't want Civ to turn into some science fiction playground. Save that for the mods.

Hello Die Hards,

I just have discovered that Civ V is in the works. I am very surprised since I read somewhere on this site that after Civ Complete came out the news was that Sid and 2K were throwing in the towel on the game and no further editions would be released.

What is the latest news on this upcoming release.

Also...one big question I have has someone ever made a mod where engineers or a new unit on Civ IV can build bridges from island to island or continent to islands rather than using ships etc. This would be a nice new feature with Civ V.

Thanks

Maybe add a lot of new Nations. Like some of the modern Arab countries and some small European Countries that had alot of impact like Scotland, Ireland, Austria, Hungary, Belgium.

Also, I would like if they improved the missions and events. That part is a little boring and really didn't add anything. Kinda annoying!:gripe:

Hello Die Hards,

Civ V info can be found just searching on Bing and Google ... 2K is NOT the developer a new company has taken the series over. Release date is unsure. New Website to game is not too built yet.

Nice to see Bug and Bat have new updates. I will DL them to my PC.

Also...has anyone played Civ on thier 52 Inch LCD. I am picking up the Samsung LN52B750 240HZ. Will hook up to my pc and play Civ with surround speakers in living room. Will be nice. Anyone here already done this. Please let me know pro's and con's and what to know....settings etc.

Sorry, but since when has Ireland had any impact on a global scale, apart from the famine emigration thingy?

You want to read Martin Cahill's How the Irish Saved Civilisation, then; basically by storing old books in monasteries after the fall of Rome that were instrumental in getting things going again afterwards.

I didn't know Scotland was a country.

One of my favorite books, being a strong Irish nationalist myself. (Damn the fact I live in the US! :D"

I know that Scotland part of the UK but still the Romans are not suddenly changed to Italy when the Roman Empire Collapsed, Carthage isn't a country anymore. So many factions in Civ 4 are not countries in real life.
