Civilization Imperialism

Preview of Europe... BTW, the resources are randomly placed right now, that's why there's sugar cane in Europe, but I'll put them in correct locations later.

It's an insult to hear that some(one) believes that Switzerland once belonged to Piemonte? Are you insane? There were (many) battles between Milano and 'the swiss confoederation'. Of course, we lost at Marignano, but nevertheless we conquered the Ticino.
Or do you think the other way round. Piemont once belonged to the holy roman empire of german nation, as the swiss cities and countryside did. And therefore, switzerland belongs to piemont? That's weird. If you want to take us out, give us to germany, that makes much more sense.

Here it is

The small Duchy of Piedmont-Savoy was, although tiny, nevertheless an important factor in European politics between 1500 and 1800. Strategically placed in the area occupied today be South-Eastern France and North-Western Italy, it was severely damaged by the Italian Wars during the first half of the sixteenth century. The duchy was shorn of its Swiss possessions (including Geneva), and King Francis I of France occupied the rest of the duchy in 1536, forcing Duke Charles III into exile.
The French occupation did not last, however. The 1559 Treaty of Cateau-Cambrésis, which brought an end to half a century of pan-European conflict (especially between the French and the Habsburgs of Austria and Spain), restored Piedmont to Duke Emmanuel Philibert (1553 - 1580, the son of Duke Charles III and known to contemporaries as "Ironhead"). Emmanuel was, however, made to recognise the permanent loss of the duchy's former Swiss possessions, but received the consolation of being able to marry the sister of King Henry II of France.

Is the information unaccurate? Or Piedmont's possession of Switzerland was not important enough?

No, but you have to see that 'Switzerland' in the form WE know lasts only from 1848! the myth is, that it is founded in 1291/1307, but a fact is, that since then, the swiss league grow constantly.
In your text, they talk about the swiss possessions and Geneva. This means that some parts of today CH belonged to them, not the whole switzerland. Geneva became part of the swiss league in 1536 f.e.
But of course it can be that some parts of switzerland (Geneva, the under Wallis, and the ticino...) were under 'protection' by them. But until the battle of Marignano, the swiss expanded continuerly (Veltlin, Bormio, Ticino f.e). At that battle, the swiss were defeated, but could hold there momental territorries.

-> there were wars between the "'swiss"' and milano (Piemonte)!

so, you have right also, but your source is a bit inaccurate. I cannot show you my 'sources' (I know it anyways, but to show you), because I don't have them online. They are books... :)

(ok, I agree if you give Geneva to them)

Bern was never a part of Piedmont? I could change the name to Geneva, but that really ruins the 'fight for Switzerland'. It's also a matter of balance... Making them German would give Germany 5 cities(or provinces rather, since I've gave both cities' and regions' name to cities, as in Rhineland), and would give them far too much power... I could make it French, but since France already has 3 cities in Europe and 3 in other places, it would overpower them too. Also, Piedmont/Italy wouldn't have anywhere to expand and only one city(while the Austrians, for example, only start with Trieste, but have lots of room if they expand quickly). I think Bern should be there to just represent Switzerland:D. Thanks for helping :)

(I don't think that Bern belonged to Piemont once, because it's a middle age town founded by the Zähringer (no english name :) )Geneva represents CH too, no problem :) but ok Berne is ok, gameplay reasons. no problem. tell me how I can help in other things, and I'll gladly do. :)

About Switzerland, I don't think you can help me more for now... I could use a city list for Italy, however.

Also, I'm adding pre-built improvements like 'Polish Housing', 'Swiss Housing', 'Scottish Housing', etc. That give unhappiness... What do you people think?

Another thing I'm adding soon is wonders... Right now I have Krupp Works... thinking about more of them. I'm also considering adding USA and Japan to the game... Not sure though.

Can they be sold even if they cost nothing? I was thinking about USA because they became stronger in the 19th century, although they were not a main power. Also because they participated in great war. The British would lose their American colonies, however.

I've changed Europe a bit. There's no more 'Germany'(not the modern Germany, anyway). I've now separated it in Prussia(Berlin) and Holy Roman Empire(Hamburg, Rhineland and Stuttgart). Poland is now not a part of Russia anymore, and Denmark doesn't exist as an independent nation, it's now part of the 'Minor Nations'(which is Denmark, the Kwakiutl, the Sioux, the Huron, the Mayas and the Incas), which is a civilization with an unique government with communal corruption(because they are independent nations in one civ), no hurrying, 2 p/ unit, no free units, tile penalty.

Interesting. I am creating something simmiler to this but its mainly a mod pack which uses some ideas from the Imperialism Series Games, CTP, and Rise of Nations. Though I personaly call my Mod the Imperialism Mod for Civ3 (Ive made one for Civ2).

Though my mod spans Imperialism from the time of the Romans to the Modern Information in the war against Terrorism.

About the "housing idea", why not make different great wonders, which have no cultural effects and are prebuilt in each nations capital. The only effect these wonders should have would be "creates a *insert nation here' housing in each city".
Either that, or give the wonder "creates *number* unhappy faces in each city". As far as I know (I have not checked), you cannot sell wonders. With a little research, you can give each wonder the name of a famous building in each country, making it more believable.

Perhaps you have already included it in the mod...one thing I like in Imperialism II are the "money ressources" in the new world (spices, silver, gold, gems and diamants if I remember correctly). This could be included with CivIII with a mining building, which creates a treasure unit every X turns, which can be converted to money if you transport it to your capital.
