Civilization Request Thread

Good design, I don't like it though...

(It greatly rewards the player for being passive and relaying on diplomacy as a defence)

Goal fulfilled then, it's just like Belgium.

Hm... maybe have the Mitrailleuse as an UU instead?

It feels more characteristic for Belgium to me.

Also, Cockery Mill as Windmill replacement maybe?

Civ indea itself loooks nice, a Patronage civ this is I guess.

Garde Civique is actually more Belgian - formed from a bunch of militias that fought in the Belgian War of Independence. Mitrailleuse was also kind of useless in combat, and overlaps with JFD's Chasseur.

I'll probably make the Cockerill Mill not require coal, actually. Still allows for earlier industrialization than anyone else save for George III, but doesn't overlap with him.

Any Ikko Ikki civs planned? One of the more interesting parts of the Sengoku Period. I do know there's an Ikko Ikki civ from some old Japanese civ pack but it's bugged.

Symbol is from a German town where they claim is the resting place for Widukind. Colors I chose to be dark (I changed them a little after that post) colors because Widukind was constantly fighting with Charlemagne.

Okay cool the symbol would make sense then, all though the Saxon Horse would fit actually fit better. Ah right I see what you're hinting at, interesting colour choice.

Oh an Ikko Ikki civ would be cool, any civ from Sengoku Jedai and the Boshin Era are cool. We need an official Sengoku Jedai and/or Boshin Era mod pack release. Oh we get the thing like what they did with Egypt (you know Battle of the Nile?).

Anyone have critique or perhaps an idea for the Building's name?

:c5capital: Mexico – Porfirio Diaz

UA: Porfiriato - Specialists reduce the culture cost for acquiring new tiles. Plantation based luxuries generate +2 Happiness :c5happy: and +2 Food :c5food:. When a Worker has finished building a Tile Improvement on a Luxury Resource gain a Food :c5food: bonus in the city.

UU: Guardia Rurale -
Replaces the Calvary. Unlike the Calvary it replaces, it gains a +25% Combat Bonus :c5strength: when attacking a city that has more than two Luxuries within it's borders. When pillaging Plantations or Mines, this unit grants Gold :c5gold: to your civilization.

UB: ??? -
Replaces the Stock Exchange. Mining-based resources generate +1 Production :c5production: and +2 Gold :c5gold:. Plantations generate +1 Food :c5food: and +2 Gold :c5gold:.

According to my knowledge of Porfirio Diaz, the Mexican economy was pretty prosperous. I would call the UB a Subsidized Mining Company, because in truth, that's what they were.
Also, the Guardia Rurales were more of a police force.

For flavor, the UB would be Mineria Subvencionado. This is not proper Spanish grammar (being a native Spanish speaker), but no one will notice.

Considering you're far from the only Spanish speaker in the CiV modding community, I think some people will indeed notice. :p

UB: Textile Mill - Replaces Windmill (Cloth Mill with EE): 1 Extra Engineer Specialist. Once Railroads is researched, Universally increases Gold from City connections by 5%.
UU: Mondragon - Replaces Machine Gun. +1 Range, but costs extra production. Has extra defensive strenght if stationed on top of a luxury resource.

Hey all, I have a few basic ideas for some civs that I don't think have been touched upon yet. The minutae of each civ aren't fully fleshed out, as I've only created them based off historical research. If they need editing to be better balanced let me know, I'm happy to hear alternatives!

The Cimmerians: masters of raiding.
Leader: Tugdamme (Cimmerian king mentioned in Assyrian records).
Capital: ???? (it's difficult to find concrete settlements for them as their origins are unknown, but it is suggested that they originated from Southern Ukraine and settled in Cappadocia. Also, they supposedly shared a homeland with the Scythians, and have a lot in common with them).
UA: Umman-Manda - bonus to raiding and fighting in foreign territory (bit simple, but they invaded northern Mesopotamia and Anatolia, which led the Assyrians to refer to them as the enemies of civilisation).
UB: Timber-Grave - replaces shrine, provides bonus culture immediately and again after the discovery of archaeology (they supposedly originated from the Srubna culture, known for their timber graves).
UA: Mounted Raider - replaces chariot archer, bonus vs cities, can take cities (again simple, but it is hard to find any unique characteristic of the Cimmerians, and they were best known for ravaging the cities of Lydia and Phrygia).

Cyrenaica: scientific and cultural hub of the Hellenistic world.
Leader: Battos (founder of Cyrene).
Capital: Cyrene (founded by colonists from Thera).
UA: Cyrenaic School - great scientists provide a culture/happiness boost, culture boost if the first to discover a tech (Cyrene became a centre of Hellenistic science and culture, with its own school of philosophy).
UB: Silphium Farm - replaces water mill, less production, increased gold and happiness (silphium was a plant endemic to Cyrenaica that was known as a medicine, aphrodisiac and herb, its appearance is the origin of the typical heart shape '<3').
UU: Epibatai - replaces spearman, bonus near water/no disembark penalty (the epibatai were hoplite marines, not unique to Cyrenaica but definitely important as the region was largely coastal and an important trade hub).

Syracuse: the great defender.
Leader: Dionysius the Elder (Greek despot well known for his tyranny, expanded Syracuse at the expense of the Carthaginians and supposedly invented the catapult).
Capital: Syracuse.
UA: Lex Hieronica - cultural and scientific boost when at peace, great scientist (points) when declared war upon (Lex Hieronica was a legal code created by Hiero II, which led to 50 years of peace for Syracuse. Additionally, Syracuse has a history of being besieged but not conquered).
UB: Walls of Syracuse - replaces walls, increased defence, garrisoned units can attack twice (pretty much same as Walls of Babylon, but I wanted to make it a little different, maybe less defence than Babylon but extra feature like the one I have suggested).
UU: Claw of Archimedes - replaces chariot archer, massively effective against naval units, terrible against land units (device created by Archimedes to repulse a Roman fleet by destroying ships on the shore, would be a great defensive unit against naval attacks but its use on land would be negligible, couldn't think of anything it could appropiately replace).

If I had the know-how I would definitely make these into actual modded civs, but until now any feedback would be greatly appreciated. :)

Could people please critique and help me with improving this one:

Vodou - Bondye

UA: Sèvis Loa: All units gain a combat bonus for every city following your religion. Units can enter enemy territory that follows your religion without open borders.

UU: Loa: Unlike the Missionary it replaces, each Loa is tied to a particular type of terrain. When stationed on this terrain, the Loa provides +1 faith per turn and can be bought with gold.

UU: Houngan: Unlike the Great General it replaces, the Houngan provides +1 faith per turn for every unit within 1 tile and may be expended to deal damage to all enemy units.

Hello everyone! Can someone please make a Petyr Baelish (littlefinger) standalone civilization(G&K)? Thank you!

1.You can enter enemy territories without open borders anyway... I'm assuming you mean foreign territory.
2. The Loa is a bit weird IMO.. Missionaries are usually on the move, so I'm not sure how useful would a +1 faith bonus while stationed on a certain terrain be here... Perhaps give it something stronger, such as a lower cost per each tile of a specific terrain type in your territory.
3. About the Houngan: by every unit, do you mean enemy units as well? And if the damage is dealt to all enemy units, it could be quite OP, considering that wars (which that civ encourages) usually give you more and more great generals...

Other than those 3 things, I think its a pretty good design...
