I have a very strange problem about Windows Vista Home Premium. Every time i running Civilization4 or any of its expansion a crash happen that i have never seen before. After a few minutes playing the screen becomes darker and the whole laptop switch off (all of this is just a second or less). There is no error, no problem with anything else, just this.
The game has no other problem (it is patched up), it works fine (and has no problem on an other laptop with xp).

I have a new Acer Aspire 5738G (intel core2 duo t6400,nvidia geforce g105m,4gb ram, windows vista home premium). Vista say that all the drivers are up to date. Directx 9c is already installed.

I have read a lot about civilization4's problems on vista (on this and other forums), but i didn't found anything like this. Playing with compatibility and admin rights don't help neither changing the graphic options. I searched for viruses too (with mcafee).

I have no more idea what can i do, please help me.

Welcome to CFC :band:

does the computer reboot or switch off completely? is there an error message in the windows event manager?

Thanks. It switch off completely, and in event manager appear only the first problems (before i patched up), this problem with switching off isn't there.

I'm also running vista, but my computer doesn't crash when I play civ 4, instead, the graphics at the top half of the screen screw up when I exit the game (most of the top half becomes turned to such a low resolution that the pixels are very visible and most of those pixels start flashing different colors than what they would be if I were running the computer on a low resolution). It may be a problem with my graphics card, though, because my computer uses an ATI Radeon instead of Nvidea. (It is a better graphics card than what the manuals suggest, though)
Please help.
