Civilizations should have their own artstyles out of the box

Well the screenshots do indicate different artstyles for cities at least, although whether this is regional or civ specific remains to be seen. And I would assume they'd have different artstyles for units of different civs, given how popular that is.

Make it content that's downloadable, if you really want it you could pay a bit extra for it. This kind of features are perfect for it...

Shhh...They might be listening...you're giving them bad ideas...

That would truly suck, I reckon. Diverse art styles is a popular request, so it would seem in the developers' best interests to spend time on them...without forcing people to pay extra.

It's better they focus on other more important aspects of the game than giving each civ unique art, that can come after it's been released, preferably coupled with new content and mechanics in the expansionpacks, but I wouldn't mind if they released it before as downloadable content for those who can't wait for it.

True, actual gameplay is more important, but don't underrate the importance of good graphics. They enhance the gameplay and the experience of playing the game.

I agree, but I'm guessing the devs have to prioritize of what to include in civ5. There are a lot of requests in the forum - more civs, more art, religion should be in, techtrading should be toggleable, more unique units, better graphics, real actors, etc. I'm thinking that a good core game would be best and additional content could come later.
