Hi everyone,

I recently bought civnet from eBay. I must say that I am unimpressed with the graphics - I think the classic DOS version is much better in this regard. But some of the music is pretty nice in civnet.
Anyway, the main issue that I have is that during any battles the units always hit very fast, and especially if there are multiple attacks it's really hard to tell what went down (e.g. let's say there are naval attacks against a city) - it all goes too quickly. In the DOS Civ, each exchange in the battlefield takes sufficient time so that one can observer everything as it's happening when the computer attacks, but it's too fast in civnet. Has anybody else experienced this?
I'm running Windows 98SE.

Uh... I guess no one has.

it goes too fast in civ.2 / freeciv too.
an adjustable movement-(slow)motion (and replay-function for selectable times within the actual game) would be a good game-improvement in all civ-versions.

Isn't there an option for animations or troop movement? Now that I think about it.. Either in Civ1 or Civ2 you can set the option of being able to watch the enemy movements or not, and an animation option. Maybe the animation option was for something else though.

I have recently got CivNet as well. I have the same problem. Everything is set right but the animations go way too fast. Usually the unit just disappears. Occasionally I see a flicker of an animation.

Long live Civ 1 DOS. (N.B. I am still disappointed with CivNet)

I just played CivNet on the weekend. There is an option to "Notfiy You On Attack" or something like that. When that happens a window pops up and shows the attack in a way that I found to be slow enough. That's CivNet version 1.02 I think. Maybe you can update your version to 1.03. You can find the patch at gamespot.com.
