Civs’ color and tech changes seem to crash my game.

When I changed all the civs’ colors, and matched their default and unique colors, my game crashes, with an “Error in civ3.exe.”

Also, when I take away all starting techs for all the civs, the game crashes.

And when I take away all government tendencies, and make all nations prefer and avoid no particular gov, the game crashes.

Has anyone else had these problems, or is there something faulty in my installation or setup?

Same trouble about the color changes.
Some changes lets the game run just fine, some other make it crash.
Just to let you know you're not alone

Excuse my poor troubleshooting skillz, but only the color changes are causing problems.The other modifications are safe.

yeah i noticed when i added a civ (vikings), and made their unique and default color both a lavender - a color not used by any other civs - the game would crash

but then i changed them to the dark red color (the japanese unique), and changed the japanese color so they arent the same, and now it works fine

but why didnt it work with the lavender? like i said no other civs were using it...

You can use 17 first colors (0-16) for civs. Any other color crashes the game. It's because bug in game.
