As a attorney who just recently graduated law school, i have to say this is one of the stupidest posts i've ever read.

If even one of us wins a class action lawsuit, every one of us wins. I'm willing to do it just for the associated publicity, nevermind the personal satisfaction and getting my $50 back. ;)

Hey you! MrManganese, out of the gene pool. Now!
Moderator Action: Debate the topic - not flame the poster. Warned.
Please read the forum rules: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=422889

This should earn you an award for stupidiest idea of the month.

Well this is a flame-bait topic if I ever saw one. I predict this thread will be closed soon - surprised it hasn't already.

To the idea of a class action? Don't be ridiculous. As to the bugs being tha faut of the game programmers? Don't be ridiculous.

The only bug so far that I'll call Firaxis' fault is the ATI bug, and they already fixed that. For the rest - buy some compatible hardware.

I think there should be some element of consumer protection involved as far as buggy/patched games, but I don't think class action will solve it.

This begs the question, what do you think would solve it? And who do you think will implement that solution?

If you don't like the product don't buy. One can wait till they fix it.

*reflects a clearly offended look*
*then realizes it's a joke concerning American lawyers*
*then lightens up a little bit and has a good chuckle*

We hate them too.

Yes....why bother taking the diplomatic route of expressing your feelings via E-Mail or a written letter when you can just use litigation to settle every infraction....

Can I join the suit, and get a refund "and still keep the game"? I've already used it for coffee table coasters. ;) (snicker)

Moderators: Do you see how weaksauce it is to "debate the idea" instead of shutting down the original poster for not understanding that life isn't fair?

We don't censure people for making claims like that - unless they're over-the-top trolling. Your best action would be to explain why punative damages don't get awarded like that.

Or ignore him.

Touché. :crazyeye:

The gaming industry has been ripping people off for a couple of years now. TakeTwo & Firaxis have crossed a line, and I think it's time to make an example of them. Who's interested in seeing a class action lawsuit against TakeTwo and/or Firaxis?

Everyday I seem a display of idiocy that I believe can't ever be beaten. Everyday, somebody comes along and proves me wrong. Thank you for being today's example.

The majority i believe have little or no issues with this game. I understand that it must be annoying for you to have problems, but just look at the results of your own poll. I have had little or no issues with this game.

Perhaps you are referring to the CD labelling and french tech tree issues. Well, that is a valid issue, but it was also a mistake, made by someone in the factory. People make mistakes, and new units will be corrected.

This is a great game. It is about time positive comments started overtaking all these negative ones. I'm convinced this will start happening soon, as soon as all the happy customers stop playing for half a second ( ) and post their views.

I suppose I've had sufficient feedback from this thread to conclude that a class action lawsuit would be inappropriate. I'd like to thank the moderator(s) for respecting the legitimacy of the debate. I still maintain that it's unacceptable for such a high percentage of people to agree with the idea of a lawsuit. I also suspect that many more people will become bitter with the developers in the coming months.
