Clearing up misconceptions about Islam ( the religion ) , and a request . . . . . .

You've gone out of your way to point out how horrible of a religion Islam is

how most everyone are horrible people who are Muslim, etc.

I've never said that . I just pointed out the behaviour of horrible Muslims throughout history . But I have never generalised that to the entire community .

And you still haven't shown me that statement .

Have you ever read the Qur'an? Have you ever read the books on Hadith written by Muslims?

The only sources I have used when criticising something are either original Muslim sources , or people who have cited the original sources . In either case , the source can be traced back to the Muslim who wrote it .

Have you read any other books written by Muslims? If not, how can you say you understand Islam?

Each time , the source for an injunction is a fatwa from a respected and much-followed cleric , or from the official compilation of a school of Muslim law , or from a historic text . They were all written by Muslims . And I have only quoted such here .

Who understands it more, the Hindu extremists who want to attack their Muslim foes at any chance they get, or the Muslim scholars themselves?

Again , you have this mania with Hindu extremists . Again I would point out that these people have never advocated violence . How , then , can you call them people who "attack their foes" ( unless you hold a well-reasoned intellectual challenge to be as bad as a physical attack , in which case I have not much left to say ) .

And I quote the "scholars" ( whose intolerance is beyond belief ) themselves . All these people have been respected leaders of the community during their time ( or still are ) .

I love this thread. It's a shining example of how it's politically correct to condemn Christianity, and it's politically correct to denigrate religion, but not to point out flaws in any other religion.

Spot on .

I wonder how long a thread titled "Islam as a viral meme complex" would be "tolerated" by the great proponents of "tolerance" at CFC .

But then again , I've conclusively demolished every argument my opposition has thrown at me , and Capulet is busy making threads about how Hindu India is a dystopian hell ( ;) ) , without , of course , providing any scriptural criticism/proof to go with it . Basically , our enemies have been driven from the field of battle . We've won conclusively . What more is there left to ask for ?
