Hi!
So i got this start.

Got me thinking, would it be possible to create a map script or a ruleset, where the world starts off with jungles and forests and lush greenery, and the climate change would start earlier depending on how many jungles/forests get removed or floods have occured etc

Actually i am not certain, does landscape change in civ 6 other then flooding and ice melting or does desert spreading also occur?

It is arguable, but i feel like all mediocre maps in civ 6 should start off with more lush greenery, rather than deserts, plains.

No, it doesn't alas. It did in IV though, but it was more eye kandy as everyone was affected the same way in practice.

Here, it's more the map generator that is to blame, i always found it too random. (and those impassable mountains...)

A good thing IMO to do with this idea though would be to choose among a persistent way of life or nomadic : the tiles you work would have 2 modes : moderate and full production. With moderate you can stay here forever, but have smaller yields, with full you have better yields but you destroy the environment, forcing you to move forever until you adopt the persistent way of life or die if you fail to invade more land. Not sure if it's historically accurate but it could be fun in multiplayer.

Well nomadic people were basically barbarians. Civilization itself is a persistent way of life.

That is why barbarians are not using the same code as major or minor civilizations in the game files either, or are they? :)

Barbarians are a concept of otherness. If any, they are a substitute for better modelization of people living in "unoccupied tiles" as well as Tribal Villages in the gameplay of Civ series. Because if you take Rome, then your neighbour Maya are barbarians also technically (IRL, as totally opposed as in the gameplay)

I tried to make the distinction less obvious in a gameplay design attempt here : https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/civilization-vii-later-or-other-project.649104/
