Clive1 - Monarch (Training ?) game

change existing builds to tanks, rush with cash; draft; short rush (not clear on mechanics); mobilization (available in Monarchy? Again not clear on how it works)

What's your preference?

Why do you think research is zip?

Not very long, as Bede said about 12-15 turns should be enough. We have 8 cities on 50 spt, which is a four tanks every turn. I do not want this to go how it did with Egypt where we had just enough infantry to slowly defeat with more needing to go there each turn. This should be very short and decisive

I was thinking more on the order of attack when the current deals are up.

Rushing a two-turn build is way expensive at 80g for the first ten and 4g for the next 90 shields (each tank is going to cost 440g). So ten tanks will cost 4400g. So, if it takes four turns to pull that cash, you will have built ten tanks in five cities @50spt., then ten in 1 so twenty in five, but you have no money for anything else.

Check out the math on mobilzation for me, would you please? I gotta go back to killing Magyars...

Have fun o guru of the Bulgars...:)

I awakened early to do my mobilization homework.

EDIT: Have completed homework. All I can say is I never knew what I was missing. Wow. I think we should move to war footing. Is the game over? Don't see it will last any longer than 10-15 if war goes well. :crazyeye:

Sure seems like its about over.

If we're going for domination victory, we won't need to worry about the Mongols or Babylon.

Mobilization rocks.

Okay, here's the plan.

I think I'm up, so I will pick it up and play just enough turns to get to the end of the running deals and assemble the strike forces.

Who wants it after that?

@Adm: Could you share your calculations?

Quite right Bede - you are up . Due to me being in the UK and it being a Holiday weekend here (no work tomorrow - hooray :) ) I slobbed around today and have only just got to the forum .

Revised roster

Sir Clive -
Admiral Kutzov - Just played
Bede - Up
mtgfreak - On Deck
Viper275 -
MSTK -

Re mobilisation - according to the civilopeadia we gat a bonus of 1 shield in every square for cities which are building a military unit. The downside is that we can only build military and we cannot stop mobilisation until we are no longer at war.

Not something I think I have used before but it looks like a pretty sensible option AFAIAC given our current position - we have enough workers and city improvements so I can't see it will do us any harm to build military everywhere until we have killed off the Arabs.

Yet another thing learned - thank you boys and girls !!

Actually, you can declare un-mobilization when you delcare peace with another single civ...doesn't matter if you're not at war or not, IIRC.

This is true. if you are at war with two civs and make peace with either, mobilization ends. IIRC, you can actually renegotiate peace to get mobilization to end as well. That one seems a little exploitive, IMO.

Could you share your calculations?
Not sure you're serious. There's no smilie... Seriously, my homework consisted of going back to my save and looking at a few cities premobilization. IIRC Riverbend was somewhere a bit over 50. I went to a war footing, went back it was about 98. The book says we get a bonus of one shield per tile that is already producing one. For simplicity's sake we have a size 3 city with no corruption. One tile produces 3 spt and the center produces 2. The other tile is food only. After moblization, this city would produce 7, one extra each in the spt tile and the city center. Do I pass or do get detention and extra homework - didn't check closely to see if the center gets the bonus. So I'm not sure.

That what I was looking for, thanks for letting me be lazy.:)

Very helpful! Does this mean that after a bit of tinkering, we could get Riverbend to 100 spt (you said about 98 after mobilization, so 100 sounds doable)? Getting a tank every turn sounds like a dream come true.

Not to give anything way, but I played some spoiler turns with minimal MM and lets just say my op order needs revised big time.

@ all - for patience above and beyond the call of duty, feel Team Clive should award Bede the Hammer of Knowledge for pounding sense into (at least, my cranium) Thoughts? :crazyeye:

The year is 1788. The Hittite Empire is ready for war. Armageddon is upon us, the Final Days. The Arabs continue to probe our defenses looking for weaknesses.

Three tank armies are poised in the west for a blitzkrieg into the heart of Arabia. Twenty bombers are fueled and loaded on the tarmac at University Park.

In the east batteries await orders to fire at Heliopolis, Memphis, Elephantine and El-Amarna. Armies of cavalry and infantrymen anticipate the order to move.

Mutual Protection Agreements are in force with the Mongols and the Babylonians and our diplomats have prepared generous offers of technology and cash to cement an alliance against the Arabs. They negotiated Trade Embargos against the Arabs with both nations to isolate the Arabs and prevent the exchange of goods for an alliance against us.

Our scientists are researching Fission and the city of Karhuyuk is building a Palace to prepare for the United Nations building. The generous diplomats had given technology to the Babylonians hoping that the they would gain Computers on their entry to the Modern Era. They learned Fission instead and wouldn't sell it for any optional MA or IA knowledge. So we set a research course to Fission (cost 0gpt) and the Central Committee ordered Karhuyuk to start the Palace as the foundation for the UN. Our scientists will complete the research project just before the town finishes the foundation in 13 turns. The Babylonians are building it in Uruk and have 100 turns to go.

Here is my idea:

Everybody deserves the opportunity to run this war. So everybody pick it up and play the end game and we can compare notes.

Weapons free on turn0. Declare and go for it!!!

Yo. Boots and saddles for all.

@MSTK,

That's pretty good: 1000 shields in one turn....:D

@All, post when you're done, just don't post a log till everybody's checked in.

Bede the Destroyer rides tonight!!!
