What are the things you learned climbing from Monarch to Immortal?

biggest step for being a immortal vs monarch player:
- pick the right wars, avoid unnecessary wars and random dows,
- dont research stupid crap like iron working when you don't need it (ok get it EVENTUALLY if TT is off, but not early unless you have double jungle gems)
- chop forests in capital and cottage every tile and get them all worked and growing in the bcs. dont be that guy with 5 forests in his capital at 1500ad while he 7 turns printing press.
- watch deity players play the game if you want to really improve fast.

@gavenkoa Maybe I worded it poorly, but at lower levels I would set my cities up to grow to 18+ without really thinking about it. I’m sure the better players have an exact city size that 90% of the cities should be, my feeling is that it is around 10-13 is the most efficient size if you are going to stay out of emancipation and you don’t want to build happiness/health buildings everywhere and/or run the culture slider.

I won’t say I completely plan it out to the food/hammer like I’m sure some do, but I’m much more aware that ideally I have more small cities running the available tiles. I think the state property strategy in particular really shines this way.
