As the Irascible Bede reviewed the actions and achievements of his predecessors he grew less so. All was in order at the front. The cities were producing well but still needed some rearrangement to achieve sustainable levels of production and population. There was much work left to be done on the lands in the west and north as well.
After Action Report:
The glorious Hittite armies continued the inexorable march across Egpyt commenced by the illustrious Sir Clive and Admiral Kutzov. There were no troops lost as the artillery, cavalry and infantry combined their efforts.
The agreements with the Arabs and Mongols maintained their force and both nations wasted their mounted troops attacking cities defended by infantry. The Mongols finally got riflemen but it was educational watching the arrow slinging Keshiks destroy themselves against the Witch's infantry. The Arabs captured one town after losing fourteen cavalry and the Mongols captured another with the loss of twelve Keshiks. In each case the town had no more than three defenders. The Arabs captured the Egyptian capitol at Elephantine but it cost them twenty cavalry charges and they lost nineteen of those as the Egyptian infantry received battlefield promotions. There were seven defenders in Elephantine. While the Mongols and Arabs hurled themselves against the well defended walls of five Egyptian towns the Hittites kept pushing thier borders forward, capturing two towns and building eight in the Egyptian lands. The Hittite army gained one battlefield general.
On the homefront the Hittites trained trained thrity-seven infantry men, learned how to fly and trained three air crews, built a cruiser for the navy and the Military Academy at Greenland trained another general yet to be blooded.
The population of the Hittite kingdom grew increasingly honest, hardworking and wealthy. Income grew 10%, theft decreased by 7%. The realm's labor force concentrated on finishing irrigation and wetland clearing projects. (It takes nineteen native laborers to road, clear and then irrigate a jungle field. Five go in to build a road, then, when the road completes move another twelve in to clear, then 2 more to irrigate and another three to railroad if needed.) Most of the cities in the core have reached maximum sustainable size and are currently organized for maximum productivity. Pollution is an increasing problem as the cities grew and factories went into production. It takes six native workers (double that for slaves) to clear a polluted area.
On the war front the armies are organizing to attack the Egyptian capital in the fara east and at the small town of Buto. Block access to the city before shelling the defenders as you don't want the Arabs and Mongols to take advantage of the wounded defenders and capture the city. The sir force is small (three planes) but there are more in queue. Shell the defenders first with artillery, flight the bombers to kill the cripples, then attack with the infantry, cavlary, or knight armies. Keep an artillery barrage in reserve should the first wave of attackers fail and the defenders promote.
Let the Mongols or Arabs take the last town unless the aliiances have ended. While they are busy wasting their military taking the last city build towns in a CxxxC pattern to claim maximum territory at minimal expense. Towns bordering areas held by the Mongols or Arabs should have culture cash rushed (rush a worker first, then change the build to library and buy it).
We are well into the mopping up phase with the Egyptians and should begin to think about the Arabs. Mongols and Babs don't count.
There is a settler in waiting behind the army vanguard. Settle on the spot as it should claim the Egyptian rubber and keep it out of the hands of the Arabs.
The Front at Giza:
The Front at Buto
There is an airfield at Manchester near Buto and another near Asyut in the east. Rebase the bombers at the fields rather than the towns.
Tutorial on city management to follow.
