cMM 1 - Deity 5CC Conquest

I agree with Aggie that we should take the Coal Plant/Palace pre-build option and research Sci.Meth at Max. I doubt the AI will get around to researching it since it has been de-coupled from the path to Tanks.

We've been lucky on steals so far. We can't count on stealing Sci. Meth. in time for our pre-build unless we had enough money to take 3-4 cracks at it. (Average should be 2 attempts, but if we're counting on stealing a particular tech on a particular turn we'd better have extras.)

Until we can build Tanks I don't know why we'd want to stop building Cavalry. It's just as slow to drag Artillery around as it is to drag Cannons around, if you only have Infantry to attack with. Once we have 2-3 Infantry for each SOD and 3-4 Infantry for each of our cities (The Aztecs should be able to mount a decent initial attack) I think we get better value out of Cavs than Infantry. Cheaper by 10 shields, and the possibility of retreat. Plus it does speed up the assault since you don't have to more the Infantry/Artillery right next to a city to start an attack, you can shoot from 2 squares away.

Not terribly concerned about re-growth/re-settlements. Those things are just speedbumps. Agreed that ideally the assault on the Aztecs will start at Tenochtitlan and work our way out. All those fresh, size 2-3 cities can't do any damage to us.

Agreed we might as well start a dogpile on the Aztecs. If things go well initially, we might never make peace with them. Probably worth building extra Infantry to cover colonies we may be able to form on Aztec lux.

We don't have to steal ToE. We make 195 gpt and surely can afford to buy it (a cheap tech and we get our money back from one of the free techs. What should our free techs be? I assume that we want to have hospitals soon? Note that even without hospitals we are nr two in mfg goods and productivity!

Regarding cavalry: we have 30 of them right now, which isn't bad. Therefore I prefer artillery over cavalry. We only have 9 infantry and 10 rifles.

There are a few combos we could do.

Atomic Theory + Sanitation
Atomic Theory + Mass Production (provided that we can buy or steal combustion)
Mass production + Flight
Atomic Theory + Electronics (we have enough workers that pollution isn't a big deal, so switching to hydro plants isn't a need)

On two other notes, here is the Victory screen. What a dumpy set of numbers for the computer.

Oh and I looked at our Palace. Haha, someone sure made it ugly.

Agreed we don't have to steal Sci. Meth. Researching it ourselves isn't wasting (much) money if we have to buy. [We are getting a higher multiple on cash than beakers since we have Stock Exchanges.] Going hard on research does likely preclude us from stealing another tech.

In v.1.22, Electronics is no longer required for Motorized Transportation. What we could do is research Sci. Meth, trade it around for Combustion + Cash, and then take Mass Prod and Motorized Transportation as the free techs. Quickest way to Tanks. :) Since we don't have that great a pre-build there will be a lag between acquiring Sci. Meth and building the ToE. We may be able to research Sanitation.

I'll look at save ... (no need to argue in hypotheticals) ...

Ok. We lose our Suffrage build in Bactra due to Wonder completion elsewhere. As Aggie mentioned, we can complete a Coal Plant instead without wasting shields. Our Palace is only worth 300 Shields so we'll only be able to get about a 4-turn pre-build in one of our high-production cities.

The MM is almost perfect. Antioch can be re-configured for 2-turn Infantry if we want. The city could also use a Coal Plant. With a slight food deficit Persepolis can do 1-turn Artillery (or Cavs). Agreed that we have enough Cavs for now, until some start to die. Huge amounts of Artillery are always good.

We have 21 Artillery and 14 Cannons. If we decide to research Sci. Meth, it may be more profitable to disband our Cannons for shields and just build new Artillery rather than paying 120 gold per to upgrade. We could get a 1-turn Coal Plant somewhere by scuttling the Cannons when we're done using them on the English.

Sci Method can be researched in 13 turns at -191 gpt. We have enough cash on hand to cover that, and we can expect a big payday from the English for ending our war with them.

We have RP and the Byz have Combustion. Maybe we can trade? Wang is the only one without Combustion.

Peace is already worth 2250 gold to Liz. Expect a visit from Bismarck on the IT. He's paying us 11 gpt for Peace and that expires this turn.

We can buy Dyes from Thea for much less than the 10% lux tax is costing us. I doubt we'll get back to her in 20 turns, we should still be busy with the Aztecs. [On 2nd look, we probably need the 10% Lux tax as a buffer against WW. Only after the English war is concluded will we be able to turn lux back to 0% if we buy the Byz Dyes.]

I guess we could also look to man those Barricades on our NW front when we declare on the Aztecs.

Yea, the Barricades should stop any fast moving unit being able to hit our cities in one turn.

You guys better leave some Aztecs for me. I have a feeling half of the Aztecs empire will be gone between Tarkeel's turn and T_MCC's.

I'm going to need a swap/skip. Too much to do around the house, and we've finally got some good weather here (been pretty bad the last month), so I want to enjoy it :)

it does mane that:

Sir Len Taft - up
Tarkeel - on deck

on the arty: T_McC: as you said yourself, artillery can shot from 2 tiles off. A LOT faster than cannons, especially as they hit more often, if you plan your campaign to take advantage of the added distance.

Codo - do you have it?

if you do not post anything until 12 hours from I'll give ti to Foresight ;) a 'am at it' is enough ;) though we ARE rather curious ;)

hey guys, Im really sorry. Work sent me to a client site with pretty much no warning. I haven't been home yet. So I apologize for holding up the game, I didn't expect to be out of town. Go ahead Foresight, I'm looking foreward to seeing how we proceed.

Again, my apologies. I try not to hold games up like this, but sometimes life just gets in the way.

I guess this means I am up. Switching the rotation around may be good, may not be.

Didn't you play the turn before carlosMM (who's most recently played)? I think Aggie normally follows Codo, unless Tarkeel wants to take it.

I think carlosMM has to restore some order here. :whipped:
