CO-3: Immortal Emperors

OK Got it.

Plan is hope for copper!!

Ralph

Turn 1 Move Worker to farm pigs as nothing else for him to do and we will work the tile at size 2 for its commerce.

Our Scout survives another lion encounter but is wounded so our exploration this set has been negligible.

Turn 7 BW in and we take the switch anarchy now as we are size 2, and we “sort of” have copper
Select Wheel to be able to hook it up if we chase it.

EOT, So do we go for a culture fight for the copper probably yes..

Two options, Red Dot delays copper for a border pop but is a better long term city
Whereas Light blue gets it straight away and leaves us with a purple city site that is ‘OK’.

As we're creative I don't think waiting for a border pop's a problem, it's only 8 turns, but we need to be prepared to start building the mine as soon as we can. I don't think that we can settle the light blue dot until we have IW anyway, so it's going to have to be the red dot.

You can settle on Jungle without IW but anyway I agree that, as we are creative, red dot is better.

Da plan:

Get a settler out to red dot, I'm thinking grow to size four and whip. Then build barracks while waiting for copper to come online.

Hi all

I am busy this we... so sorry for the lack of discussion.
I agree red dot looks fine... good luck Stuge

I must've been imagining things then, wouldn't be the first time. I expect we'll need another worker as well as a Barracks after the Settler, to help with the chopping and road building.

Hmm... thought I posted my thoughts, maybe if they weren't so limited, I would've remembered that I hadn't. ;)

Sounds good, stuge!

Starting off, I put all of our EP against Darius. If we get spies before Cathy is on the ropes, we're doing something horribly wrong.

Big wheels keep on turning. Now we're learning parenting from the animal perspective.

The first warrior from Aksum was completed and I started a second one. Some MM later growth in five and warrior in five.

Warrior numero uno replaced the scout near red dot, and scout headed south. He found Persian lands to the south of Russia before getting ambushed by a panther and a lion. Rest in tiny pieces covered with stomach acid.

A mine on the riverside hill completed on the same turn that I was able to whip the settler for two pop. Don't you just love it when everything lines up.

Consenquently Gondar was founded in 2650 BC. (Pretty fast for first city.)

Our wirker is roading the jungle hill. Another worker is due in three turns. Barracks will be built next.

A curious little anomaly:

The tile in question is just visible inside Russian borders. I'm guessing that Cathy has horses. Don't leave your spear at home.

Well played, stuge. Horses are ok early for Cathy, hopefully that'll mean we'll face fewer axes. :)

Hi everyone :),

got it.

Do we want to settle another city before the rush? I don't think we need it but I could be wrong...
Also in Aksum: worker-> barrack ->axes or should we build a third worker for fast chopping and connecting cities?

I will wait for comments before playing... :scan:

Hmm, I'm not sure about another settler, I mean, where would he go? He could go south of the capital to grab the wheat (maybe even share pigs) with a fp, a heap of gh and forest to chop. I could go either way.[/fence sitting]

A worker is a must if another city goes in, and will certainly be needed for all the jungle eventually in Cathy's realm. I am for it, but won't cry if you go straight for the :hammer:

Stuge: Are you sure that's a pasture? It's appearing as a farm when I load the save, although a couple of spears are always useful.

I'm not too enthusiastic about another city, mainly as I just can't think of anywhere to put it that'll give us any immediate benefit, the spot with wheat and a FP may work, but I can't see Darius grabbing it for a while. I like the idea of a 3rd worker, we have a lot of forests so I'd have thought it'd more than make up for the lost production time, although I haven't calculated it. Aksum should be able to whip axes regularly too if necessary. On that note, how often does everyone tend to whip cities when rushing? I always get the feeling I don't do it often enough or leave it too long.

What about the research path after AH? Writing straight away, or pottery first? Or something else I missed? I don't think there's enough food to run a lot of scientists without sacrificing a lot of production, so some earlier cottages may be useful.

@Colony: I think it's horses under a farm...

OK so: barrack-> worker->axes in the build queue... and Pottery-> Writing in techs?

I think that even with lack of food ressources, we should run scientists pretty early for an academy or a tao bulb anyways... and after the rush, our eco will be so crap that I think we won't have much choices but to run a couple of scientist (to reach alpha, COL...)...

Cheers,

Raskolnikov

edit: I am going to play in the next four hours... so If someone has something to say, that's now or never! (terrible attempt to make something sounds funny in english)

Whip the worker at size four with maximum overflow.

Hi team!

It's 3 am for me in France and I have to wake up in 5 hours  ... so a quick report this time...

I played until completion of our third worker... ie 16 turns

T55: everything is ok , I hit enter
T57: worker roads the copper
T58: Aksum: worker -> barrack , the new worker roads the corn to link Aksum to the river... to Gondar... and finally to the copper
T63: both workers are mining the precious metal...
T66: AH is in, I select Pottery as discussed... and Stuge was right ;)

Civ4ScreenShot0280.jpg

Cathy has just settled a city claiming marble where i put the sign.

T67: Aksum hits size 4, switch to a worker. Workers are busy on Gondar's corn

T70: whip 2 pops in Aksum for max overflow.
T71: not played, the worker in Aksum is unmoved. The two Gondar's workers will complete the farm this turn...

Hi :hatsoff:,

@Colony: I tend to chop everything as early as I can... I think you should whip once every 15 turns (to not accumulate unhappiness) and perhaps one more time just before marching on russian land... but as I said earlier in the thread I've only done successfull rushes on emperor, my immortals wins were all peacefull... so I could be of bad advice...

@team: any comments on the save? nothing much happened but it was very late so I hope I didn't screw things up... :)

Cheers,

Raskolnikov

Well I always seem to get a bit a nervous about reducing my cities' happinness caps down to 1 or 2, even temporarily, despite the big production boost it gives. I doubt it's needed here anyway, we have some reasonable production tiles and a lot of forests.
