Here I am, minding my own business, microing my cities, having distant dreams of conquest, which can't really be realized for a while yet... When I suddenly hear the all-too familiar KA-TOOOOOT accompanied by the sound of soldiers hurrying into defensive positions. So who was the aggressor? Well, gosh darn, Louis. Apparently, unbeknownst to me, this conversation had taken place between him and my teammate:
Louis: "Mon cheri, would you mind giving us your spare Gems, there's this lovely damsel I would very much like to impress with a sparkling gift fitting my godly royal self..."
Fleme: "Well I have a better idea, how about you try to reduce the womanizing and hair-curling, hit the gym instead and try to worry a bit more about your good ole' butt-buddy Roosevelt being at the wrong end of a Celti-Chinese invasion."
Louis: "Sacrebleu! Verily I have never been insulted in this fashion! Aux armes!" *Declares war on the spot*
So why are wars fought? Apparently, in this case (as well), cherchez la femme...
Well, not a biggie. Not like he could mount a halfway decent invasion with his "attack courage". These guys showed up as well though, headed for Nidaros as it turned out. Suited me, I certainly have an axe to grind
mischief
with these guys:
Since there were black cities popping up left and right, I could cut the Settler production and focus on military, and handle the expanding through the nationless ones as well.
Of a bit higher quality than these cities
Everyone and their mama wanted a piece of the delicious French-American pie, so it was only a natural choice to cut Settlering for good and start sharpening swords instead. Justaladin was already heading for Orleans and Paris, while I started working at the other end.
Techwise, we're doing pretty good, considering we haven't really emphasized on that at all. The usual scientist grind isn't quite as lucrative with the variant, and the same applies for mass cottaging.
Meanwhile, Gandhi has already researched Astronomy:
Those fishermen must have been confused. "Hey wait, yesterday we could sail here no problem, what's up with this hardship now? And how come there's a ton of lights and noise coming from Delhi's direction? Are they having a big party with bonfires and didn't invite us?"
On the northern frontier, I have taken Tours, am heading for Lyons and then Paris. Handily Louis is actually kicking Arazantium butt on the other front so I have it quite easy. Except the damn barbs streaming to my new conquests from the northern tundra. Maodica is steadily streaming into our direction, we'll see if we can manage to carve a decent foothold for ourselves before we have to deal with them...
