Cold War Project

I don't think so; I've read articles about attempts to develop them but I'm pretty sure none actually exist.

I heard they do exist and can be used, but the main problem with electromagnetic pulses is that they cannot be controlled.

Could you help me with this one?

Propose cold war (and classic) Wonders of the World!!!!
:D :D :D
Anything!!! :rolleyes:

FYI, i finished the "data recollection" process :D
I´m classifying the units right now; countries and decades.

I think I have enough units to cover a timeline from 1965 to 2000.

The Berlin Wall could be a wonder of the world.

Pyramids = Communal Farms
Hanging Gardens = St. Basil's Cathedral
Colossus = American Businesses
Lighthouse = Leningrad Ports
Great Library = Space Race (buildable wonder)

King Richard = Magnitogorsk (largest iron mine/mill in the world)
Marco Polo = CIA
Michaelangelo = Democratic Freedoms
Copernicus = Sikorsky's Lab (or some famous scientist from the era)
Adam Smith = Capitalist Values
JS Bach = Mother Theresa

UN and Darwin should also be made null.

SETI Program, - Dunno
Cure for Cancer, Dunno

Here’s my two cents, some of them are the same:

Pyramids – Kollectiv Farming (USSR, Kiev)
Hanging Gardens – Hollywood (USA, Los Angeles)
Colossus – Wall Street (USA, New York)
Lighthouse – U.S. Naval Supremacy or U.S. Navy (USA, San Diego)
Great Library – [whatever the hell China’s intel agency is called] (China, Beijing)
Oracle – Democratic Freedoms (NATO, Paris)
Great Wall – Berlin Wall (USSR, Berlin or East Berlin if you'll have two :confused: )
Sun Tzu's War Academy – Soviet Ground Supremacy or Red Army(USSR, Warsaw)
King Richard's Crusade – Japanese Efficiency (SEATO, Tokyo)
Marco Polo's Embassy – KGB (USSR, Moscow)
Michelangelo's Chapel – Democratic Freedoms (USA, Washington)
Copernicus' Observatory – Interned Scientists (USSR, Krasnoyarsk)
Magellan's Expedition – Submarine Fleet (Buildable by USSR)
Shakespeare's Theatre – Cradle of the Revolution (USSR, Leningrad)
Leonardo's Workshop – Military Industrial Complex (USA, Chicago)
J. S. Bach's Cathedral – The Constitution (USA, Washington)
Isaac Newton's College – Spaceport (Buildable by USSR & USA after discovery of its tech)
Adam Smith's Trading Co. – Capitalism (USA, New York)
Darwin's Voyage – Arms Race (Buildable by all)
Apollo Program – Kremlin (USSR, Moscow, no effect)
Statue of Liberty – Islamic Unity (Arab League, Baghdad)
Eiffel Tower – Pacifism (or better wording?) (NATO, Paris)
Women's Suffrage – War Support (USA, Washington)
Hoover Dam – U.S. Industry (USA, Pittsburgh)
Manhattan Project – Manhattan Project (USA, Albequerque)
United Nations – CIA (USA, Washington)*
SETI Program – Space Program (Buildable by USSR & USA after discovery of its tech)
Cure for Cancer – NATO (NATO, Paris)

* - I don't know why the UN should be nil; IMO it'd be a good representation of the US' freedom to intervene in other nations' affairs. The 50% increase in odds of legislative acceptance of war would emulate this.

How about just "unaligned"? I mean, the U.S. and USSR were members of the UN, so I don't get it.

Hate to say this but, there is an official well defined non-aligned movement.

The Non-Aligned Movement is a Movement of 115 members representing the interests and priorities of developing countries. The Movement has its origin in the Asia-Africa Conference held in Bandung, Indonesia in 1955. The meeting was convened upon the invitation of the Prime Ministers of Burma, Ceylon, India, Indonesia and Pakistan and brought together leaders of 29 states, mostly former colonies, from the two continents of Africa and Asia, to discuss common concerns and to develop joint policies in international relations. Prime Minister Nehru, the acknowledged senior statesman, along with Prime Ministers Soekarno and Nasser, led the conference. At the meeting Third World leaders shared their similar problems of resisting the pressures of the major powers, maintaining their independence and opposing colonialism and neo-colonialism, specially western domination.

Hmmmm....I heard of a meeting where Arab nations came to smaller deveoping countries and offered them help in exchange for helping them in the UN in hurting Israel as much as possible. Could this have been that meeting?

No. The Arab states didn't really get serious about Israel until after the 6 Day War of 1967.

Everyone's suggested that the pyramids should be Soviet, I disagree. :) Methinks it should be called 'American heartland' (or something) and be American. Considering the great disadvantage of the Soviet agriculture and the fact that they often had to buy grain from other countries...

Oh and perhaps the Soviets should have the Great library (KGB) to help them keep up in the tech-race. Perhaps it goes obsolete when somone discovers 'Counter-espionage'.

I agree that Soviet agriculture was pretty poor, but speaking for myself the reason I thought the wonder should be Soviet is because of the U.S.' democratic government. Since Russia can't use "We Love the King Day" to bring population growth, I thought the wonder could at least somewhat balance out growth between the two countries.

As for the Great Library, I thought it should go to China rather than Russia because China was always behind everybody and had to steal secrets from both sides. In a scenario I think the U.S. and Russia should have an actual technological race, not just the Soviets waiting for other people to discover stuff.

Um, apart from when they tried to wipe them out in 1948 :confused:.

really, the pyramids wonder does not necessarilly represent great agricultural capacity (in fact, it does not even affect food production). What it affects is population growth. A civ with pyramids grows much faster, that's all. Even if US or USSR agriculture was great, so were population growth control measures (true even moreso of Europe). It might make sense to give it in the US to represent massive immigration (which began towards the end of the cold war), otherwise I would give it to whatever civ ended up representing most third world countries, due to the dramatic population explosion (India? China even with it's attempts to control growth? Indonesia?)

As I said earlier, the US' agriculture and immigration would warrant giving it to them, but my only point is that the USSR should have it for balance's sake. :undecide:

Mmmm... i have a problem. I´m actually working on a pre-made WW2 scenario. I´m just changing city improvements names, units and wonders of the world.
But this problem came out.
For example, I had a "Reichstag" wonder of the world in the original game. I changed it to "Space Race".
Obviously, I need to delete the previous Reichstag wonder and rebuilt the Space Race in other city.
But It seems that I can´t rebuild that wonder!!! I used the command: Edit City + Delete All Wonders
However, I can´t build that wonder again.

How can I solve this problem?
Do I have to start again?? and create the cities, roads, irrigations all over again??? :eek:

I had the same problem too in my scenario; what you do is hex-edit to make them all buildable again, and then you can cheat-build them in whatever cities you want. Here is a guide that includes how to reactivate wonders:

If you don't have a hex-editor I can email you the one I use, since it's too big to post. :)

Thanx Darius!!!! You saved me!!!
Anyway, i´ve never done this "hex-editing" stuff; i´ll follow your guide ;)
Obviously, i don´t have a hex-editor. You have my e-mail, please send it there. ok? :D
