Colleges, where to go ?

Ask yourself serious questions about what you want from your education.

You claim to be a commie. while its true that many schools have commie groups, there are a couple where marxist economics/political economy are emphasized, such as UMass - Amherst, check out the economics webpage, red star and all. Good department, too.

If you really want a progressive experience there are plenty of schools on the radical edge beyond Berekley (its a big school, not all radical) such as Evergreen State, Hampshire College, College of the Atlantic, etc..depending on your angle/preference. On the other hand, those schools are a major commitment, if you just want a degree, pick a Cali school, they're some of the best public schools in the nation.

however i wanna know like the good schools in east coast that will take me, i will never go apply to yale and harvart cuz its too elitist

How can you have such good grades and write so poorly.

My thoughts exactly. Not to take this on too huge a tangent, but I'm amazed that people can write so incomprehensibly on the internet and still do well in English any classes at their schools. I guess it's not too different wrong knowing a foreign language, but I would think that you would accidentally start putting "plz" and "enjoyz" into your papers, though.

(By the way, what's the point of saying "enjoyz"? It's not like it's any faster to type that than "enjoys.")

Fetus, how did you end up at UCLA? Weren't you the one with the Cal avatar for a long time?

I was. I wanted to go to CalTech, but that's just plain ridiculously hard to get into, which I didn't which. I did get into both UCLA and Berkeley and I had to make a damn hard decision. I like UCLA's campus more and it allows me to get away from home, it just feels like a better fit for me to live at UCLA despite my long love for Cal.

If you will consider going east you should look into: Wesleyan (MA), Penn in Philadelphia, or Duke (NC).

If you plan on going into the sciences: Cal Tech and MIT are good choices.

Of course Stanford and Berkeley are great schools.

Ask yourself these questions:
1. Do you want a small school (1-4,000 students) or a large one?
2. If climate and or accessability to specific sports (skiing, surfing) is an issue choose that next.
3. Make a list of schools that are too far away to drive home from for a weekend and meet your size and climate standards. (far away is good).
4. Choose 4 tops schools and 1 safety school to apply to.

You better try to go to Berkeley, because there's very few other universities that'll be good for an uber-commie like yourself

Agreed. Those people are taught by the CCCP (Coalition of California College Professors). Isn't the acyronm so fitting?
