Colonialist Legacies: Histories of the New World | Colonial + Pre-Colonial civs

Not yet. I don't want to push for art until we have a solid coded base to work off.

So as you said, GP will add when city found on desert , i have some question
- GP is GP per turn or a large amount GP ?

- Dreamtimes benefits will only trigger whn Goden Age or not ?

Look, it's pretty basic stuff - cities founded on deserts will generate Golden Age points per turn. Dreamtime benefits are like super powered pantheons, and they stick around all the time.

Hi! Since I voted other on the poll, I just thought i should say my suggestion. If possible, a Sauk-Mesquakie/Sac-Fox Native American Civ. Maybe something kind of like Austria's UA because the two tribes merged? I just thought since they lived in my area of the U.S, it would be cool to play as them. Here's what I have so far for ideas if you want:

Sauk/Mesquakie:
Colors: Red-Green/Yellow (Red/Green is on the official website, and the Sauk were "People of the Yellow Earth")
Leader: Taimah
Capital: Saukenuk
UA: (People of the Red Earth) ??? Everywhere I go I hear about their "rich culture" but not much else. =/
UU: Possibly a Worker that can also settle cities, but with some exception like Spain's Conquistador.
UB: ??? Again, nothing could be found.

Trying my hardest to find more info, but I'm fine if you don't want to do this suggestion. I can see you're already doing a lot of work with several more Civs still to do! Even so, thank you for taking the time to read this! Have a good day!

With the finding National Wonders first bonus - would the Anangu start right away with their UU instead of a Warrior, like the Shoshone do?

Thanks for the suggestion m00s3yliam :)

You might want to poke Leugi too since he's more into NA native civs!

Yep!

Hmm, stick is very strong i thought, especially you can have 6~8 bonus.

I think the benefit only happen during golden age is better.

Here some of my concepts (it base on my initial ideal - only happens during :c5goldenage:. So it very strong):

- Gift of Wealth : + 1000 :c5gold:, all yells and specialist have worked + 2 :c5gold:, and :c5trade: + 15 %. Cost of purchase units and buildings - 25%.:c5greatperson: Merchant + 15 % faster.

- Spirit of War : All units born during :c5goldenage: will get Golden Spirit promoted, gain 20 % bonus :c5strength:. Notice - This bonus still keeps on units even :c5goldenage: ended or promoting to higher class units. All cities :c5strength: + 10%.:c5greatperson: General and Admiral +15 % faster.

- Wave of Exploration : + 25% :c5culture: and :c5faith: on :c5capital: , 15% :c5culture: and :c5faith: on all other cities . :tourism: bonus is 50%. :c5greatperson: Writer, Artist and Musical + 15 % faster.

- Wind of Liberty : :c5unhappy: - 50 %, Constructing Wonder get bonus 20 % :c5production:, 25 % :c5happy: will transfer to :c5production:. :c5greatperson: Engineer +15 % faster.

- Age of Science : + 1 free tech, :c5science: boost from cities + 20 %, :c5science: boost from puppet cities increase from 2% to 5 %. Cost from Research Agreement - 50%. :c5greatperson: Scientist + 15 % faster

Note:

- You can choose one of them each time your empire enter :c5goldenage:.
- One bonus can choose again as long as your empire enter :c5goldenage:.

I'd rather them be based off historical Dreamtime beliefs. I'd rather them be analogous to pantheons and religious beliefs as opposed to 10 turn golden age beliefs.

The problem is hard to balance, b/c when ur get a lot of bonus it mean you get so much advantage compare to other civs. That 's not good, plus, you can have build and policy that increase you wonder age duration. Like i said, you can choose, your wise to pick right bonus at right time. You can easily reach at higher level.

That's why we are going to make the bonuses fairly powerful early game, but not so much later on. It's already balanced pretty much before even thinking of the bonuses because of the fact that you can't found a religion.

i somewhat see this statement as both true and false. Sure not being able to found a religion is bad. But you still get relgious bonuses you just don't pick them. This can actually benefit you if you want a faith only building since other civs will basically be fighting over your cites. In my last game where I didn't get a religion my cities changed religion several times meaning I could still get many religious buildings.

Is there a limit to how many dreamtime bonuses I can get? Or can I just start endless golden ages and get them all?

To reiterate there will be 6-8 bonuses that are fairly powerful early game, but not so powerful late game. You can get all 8 in game.

As it stands though, the Anangu have gone through an inordinate amount of thematic changes and I'm extremely hesitant to tweak it as it is now. It was a long an arduous road in order to get people to agree on this civ. I'm simply looking for suggestions for what people would like to see, I'm more than willing to come up with them myself however.

Hopefully we can look forward to some new releases in the coming month as well as fix up some of the bugs in the old civs.

Thanks, TPangolin. It's nice to hear that you guys will move forward without turning a blind eye to the old civs. My hope is that one day, we will live in a world where the Legalism bug no longer bothers the Philippines. Along with all their other bugs. :P Also looking forward to big Australia update, of course.

I wanted to throw a word of support in for the Anangu. Golden Ages are not easy to get early game, and not founding a religion is a good balancing agent. The Anangu as is, with the right Dreamtime beliefs, sound very interesting and fun to play. I want to play a game with Theodora, JFD's Lithuania, Armenia, and the Anangu. Interesting lopsided pantheon-religious wars commence!

Just recieved this message on reddit from /u/Gildish_Chambino which I thought was really nice...

[Was in a thread which featured the Australia mod]
I thought it looked familiar... Easily one of the best mods I've downloaded since I got Civ V. My goal since first discovering your mods when you posted the teaser for the Inuit has been to win a game with each of the 4 previous civs you released for that package. I've just finished a Philippines play through, and now I'm working on Canada. You've reinvigorated Civ for me and brought me back to that wonderment I had when the game came out.

This is the reason we do this stuff! :)

I've just come across this and haven't downloaded anything yet. I just have some questions/comments about the Philippine civ.

1. UA refers to the other civ's UBs, right? If that's so then the effect is quite good.

2. If the Katipuneros are upgraded before adopting an ideology, do they get the bonus when adopting an ideology later?

3. What are the chances that cities would go into resistance? Do they all go into resistance at the same time or the effect is implemented on a per city basis?

The UA is nice although it seems too "capital-centric". Well the gov't in Manila has always been criticized as "imperial," I just wasn't expecting you'd replicate it, haha. IMHO it would be nice if the UBs could be built anywhere while friendship and open borders lasts, making it available for production. If they're made available maybe we can skip the free buildings.

The Katipunero's are fine but I find the Ideology effect a bit uninteresting. Most players would adopt an Ideology and get the bonus anyway. Maybe double it to 50% but make it only work against the units of civs with different ideology? Or maybe, lower it to 15% but grant another 15% when fighting those units from different ideologies?

I was surprised that the Coral Church is a Harbor replacement. I was expecting that Churches would make an appearance but I imagine them as Garden or Temple replacements.

I hope you don't mind my comments. I'm Filipino so I'm excited to see the Philippines in the game. You could have done other ASEAN civ first like Malaysia or Singapore. I really appreciate this and surely other kababayans do as well. I'm definitely downloading and playing this once I fix my PC.

Mabuhay po kayong lahat! Salamat.

UA gives you the UBs of other civs, yes ;)

The Katipuneros are slightly bland to balance out the civ and yes since the promotion retains on upgrade - any units that were once a Katipunero will gain a 25% Bonus. They upgrade to GWI infantry though, so you'll want to build them before you research Replaceable Parts :P

The chance is pretty high, and you'd only be really really lucky to avoid the three major spikes when getting a resistance is possible. It's a chance game (sometimes it affects all cities, and sometimes it affects some, but not others).

I understand the sentiment that the UA is too capital centric (especially seeing as there are more Spanish Imperial things and Haciendas in northern Luzon, not to mention Carabao from the Malay and Rice Terraces from Indonesia/China) - but it's more of a balancing thing. If all cities could build other civ's UBs then the Philippines would be a forced to be reckoned with on a-whole-nother level.

With the churches, I just liked the idea of a Coral replacement because a lot of Baroque ones were made out of local materials like volcanic rock and coral.

I really wanted to do this mod also because I'm partly Filipino, was lucky that we had no family affected by the Typhoon and try to raise some awareness about the said Typhoon.

Heaps and heaps of credit goes to JFD and Neirai though. The civ is a bit bugged - but hopefully we'll have time to work on it.

Does Pearl of the Orient Seas allow UBs that are of the same generic type? For example, is it possible to have both a Hanse and a Satrap' Court (Bank replacements)?

TPangolin, I noticed something amusing -- the Philippines have no use of it's former colonizers! Neither Spain, America, nor Japan have UBs. Haha. :)

Hah, that is pretty funny. At least you can get a Candi/Paper maker from Indo/China relations :P

Regarding the UA, it's whoever you declared friendship with last.

In other news.... Project Melon is well underway and we've whittled down the colour option to these too alternatives. Thoughts? Votes? What do you like better? Let us know :)
