Colonies IV MP beta test

No, I don't want a war - otherwise I WOULD have just started one  ! I just want no foreign naval bases just off my shore - or if they are there, and agreement that I can do the same back without causing an incident.....

Anyway, if I was going to start a war, it would be with England, for choice. :D

Ya know John the reason I like you so much is because you are a smart a$$ just like me!

Any idea how long we are going to wait for Yop? I am tempted to play the Dutch again....

I say keep playing the Dutch till YOP reports back in fit for duty.

Im pretty sure he is gone AT LEAST all this week.

Play on!

Independents develop Calvinism.

Defenders of Geneva strike again! Another group of Culverins and Pikemen destroyed, but the defenders guns are beginning to fail, and their powder run low. The time for moving our Great Guns in is almost here....

Natives nearly destroy a French cavalry patrol in Africa, but are in the end defeated - and the survivors are shipped to the coast in chains.

I'll play tomorrow, guys (if there is no big party to go to ;)) :D

P&P

no military news.

Diplomacy: We've retired our settler from French Island. We remember to the French that we don't want war and that this time they were right, but that is far from be a 'demostration' of the "softness" of Spain.

I've discovered Mercantilism. For the teatries signed, I'm ready to share this tech with the Dutchs, and they with France. However, I remember to France and to the Netherlands that there was a point in the teaty were it was specified that the first to discover a tech will have the rigth to build the wonder related with that tech.

I don't remember the "Wonder Clause", but I think it is only reasonable. I agree for Yop, and for the French. Share the tech, and we will let you build the Wonder.

I am nearly at Constitutional Monarchy, BTW....:D

I am glad to hear the Spanish have seen why we are worried about foreign settlements across our trade routes. We will continue to respect Spanish power.

John, the "Wonder Clause" was a must I put on the table when I signed the teatry with Yop. I'm pretty sure he will confirm it :)

Swedish troops arrive in northern Africa, war has been declared versus the evil state of Marroco! Landed Swedish troops have where very succesfull in the initial assault of the fortress of Agadir, an aging medieval castle which was no match for our battle hardened German veterans.
The city is expected to fall into Swedish hands within a month, a colonial administration is allready on it's way to the city by ship.

In Germany the Swedish offensive is resting for a few months to replenish ranks and repair/replace equipment lost in the seige of Poznan.

Sweden would like to suggest an agreement to Richeliou... If we are allowed to copy our allies' soon to be improved government system, perhaps the we could repay with a future Swedish discovery?
(I'm also researching Constitutional Monarchy, but as my pelts haven't yet reached europe I won't get it before you. If you gift me the tech my beakers will carry over to the next thing I chose to research however...)

Btw, John, as every turn is 6 months, perhaps you could rename the months of January and July to Spring and Winter or Summer and Autumn or somesuch? Just a thought...

Henrik, yes - I could do that Summer/Autumn thing, good idea.

The trade agreement you propose sounds interesting. Maybe I could suggest to you what your next tech should be, in that case - so it is one I would quickly find useful?

That was my intention :o Forgot to write it in the post though.

Post it here or mail/PM it, depending on how secretive about it you want to be ;)

OK guys last turn for me till next week, Im on Holiday.

John please let the tourney guys know as well, (not that the tourney has been moving very fast lately...)

Native move: Another attack by African Tribesmen (on our arquebusiers, this time), was beaten off with almost no loss. More Slaves taken.

The defenders of Geneva sallied once more - but this time our defenders, dug into the hills above the town, just prevailed. (Good job as this was a 6-unit stack!)

French move: Counter-battery fire at the seige of Geneva destroys some Swiss Pikemen and unseats their Royal Cannon from the walls. The Castle, however, is as yet unattacked. (Not sure why the AI didn't chose to defend with the Castle, but I don't want to waste all my Culverins on it. More heavy guns are about to arrive, to do the job.)
