Colonies IV MP beta test

Spain will love that a compromise will be signed- we've a tech cooperation teatry with France and a Defensive Alliance with England. We don't war our allies to start a war.

BTW, France should not speak in the name of Catholic until she doesn't remove the Edict of Nantes :p

Of course you must, Steve. And I the same, for La Belle France. However, I will consider your proposal, it is not without merit....

John I am not doing anything to threaten French national interests!

If you want some guarentees in the New World or Africa just make us all a proposal. as long as it isn't anything that will screw up my existing Colonies I will probabaly agree.

I'll not start a war, but I'll support England if I think she is under attack. I told Yop that, if I recall it correctly, via MSN :)

Good point! :D However, everyone knows that the good King Henri IV is long dead, and the Valois are good Catholics. And the Edict....who knows how long it will last...?

Yop appears not to have seen my note yet. Are you guys OK to wait until tomorrow night for France to play? I could play now - it wouldn't kill me to wait a turn to get my hands on that tech....

Thanks for the clarification, Yaro. Of course, whether you consider England to be under attack if French troops occupy Cork is an interesting point. :)

However, I won't press you on it, because I am still considering England's proposal.

You know, it's just occured to me that maybe the Edict of Nantes should be located in Nantes (D'oh!)....I know it's only a piece of paper, and only has meaning when enforced by the French King (who is in Paris), but still.....

John it is up to you of course.

I think negotiations are at least progressing thus far.

Yop is probably off for the night, he has school for another couple of weeks!

For me it is OK to wait - diplomacy is ver important :) Let's wait!

If you want to cheat to remove Edit of Nantes inmediately I won't oppose. We also ask France for introducing the Inquisition in her lands, and persecute all but Roman Catholics :p

OK, guys, I have an early start (and a trip to London, boo, hiss :() so I'll save it for tomorrow night. You are right, progress is being made, and "jaw, jaw" being better than "war, war" (Churchill) I will sleep on it.

Just to float an idea, Steve, France is anxious to consolidate French rule north of the St Lawrence/Great Lakes system. If England agrees to keep out of this territory, we may have a deal on Ireland. South of the river, it's first come, first served (and with all England's colonists, it will probably usually be England who, like the Bishop, comes first. According to the Actress, anyway...;))

Your Most Catholic Majesty, those Huguenots are foul Protestant scum, of course. But they are useful and hardworking scum, and France is unusually quiet at the moment. I think the Edict will remain in force for the present...Nice of you to offer though....;)

Well, then I wonder if the Spanish Inquisition should be in Madrid, and there should be a Palace in Barcelona, and ..., you know, I think that is a minor detail. In fact, Nantes is easy to capture than Paris, so I think that the wonder should remain in France :)

The muslim also were useful and hardworking and they were expelled from Spain only 10 years ago or so...

Yeah, that was my original thinking. Mind you, the capture of Nantes would probably throw a human-controlled France (who was minimising luxuries/entertainers) into turmoil. This would simulate the Protestants of the area rising up against state control rather nicely....Anyway, bedtime for now. See you all tomorrow night!

I can agree to this this.

Where would you want a line in the Great Lakes?

Yep, expelling first the Jew second the muslim along with the intolerance were our main errors. But I thougth we were "playing a role", you know, because, for instance, I'm not Catholic :p

Yaro, yes, this is all role-playing! I am neither Catholic, Protestant nor Jew (nor anything else in particular), I am just getting into the spirit of the times....;)

Thanks, Yop. I will play tonight. Steve, I'll email you the details which, if you agree, we can publish here. In the meantime, I will keep away from Ireland....

Thanks for the techs, Yop.
