Colonies IV MP beta test

The Swedish revolution is once again put on hold...

(Spanish ships where blocking the route to the dutch city I was going to deliver the furst to :()

John, you've posted only the dutch file... ;)

Natives capture Cartagena on the Spanish Main! And lowly Caribs, too!

A strong raid by Scottish clansmen on Calais....They carried the outer fortifications and were only repulsed from the gates of the citadel itself.

Cardinal Mazarin has taken over the reins of power in a still-turbulent France, from the ageing Cardinal Richlieu....There is no end in sight to the political upheavals sparked by the calling of the Estates General. He has increased taxes and decreed the setting up of more Cannon Foundries, in readiness for the rumoured war....

Native settlements raided north of the St Lawrence, bringing in small amounts of gold and furs.

P&P

It appears that I forgot to push CTRL+N at the end of the last turn, this may explain the high number of units that have moved. The lost of Cartagena is not very important, we'll recover it as soon as we've time, and it is very common to lost it in SP, anyway...

Sorry, Sweden king, the way is now free, but it you're going to trade with Spain, I'd suggest you to wait until the Anarchy is over, because you'd get more money ;)

John, we I posted that message you're offline from CFC, so I though you've forgotten to post the file.

Last day I'll play: the Wedenesday night, at European time. Anything after that is upon to our ally the heressy the English king, who I hope would see the thruth and convert to Catholicism all her unholy nation :p

Steve, I've tried to send you a PM, but your PM box is full, so I'm going to send it to you over Apoly ;)

Yaro, I cleaned out the box a bit, go ahead and send here if you prefer.

Swedish furs arrive from the new world to the Dutch city of Utrecht!

The New Sweden Company (now 100% Swedish own, the initial Dutch shareholders have been bought out) makes a profit of 850 000 Reichstaller!

Great discoveries in the field of Refining are expected within the next 6 months ;)

Boston Furs to Danzig for 240 gold!

War preparations continue continue as the halls of power all over Europe are a buzz with rumors of increased French aggression. (So what else is new?)

We thank our Dutch friends for their "Economical" skills. We are also happy to announce the formation of a proper Constitution for France.

In gratitude for his sterling work in this area, King Louis XIII has appointed Cardinal Mazarin a Royal Cardinal and principal advisor to His Majesty.

We note with distress that the Spanish have not sent us the secrets of their new Naval Architecture, according to our agreement. We must ask if our skills exchange arrangement is still in force?

More Native slaves taken and encampments plundered in Africa...
Genoese Galley sunk off Corsica...
Scottish Carrack (carrying more raiders) taken off Calais, and the ship sold as Prize.

Massive funds spent on Cannon Foundries for France's major cities. Taxes have been raised again to compensate.

Dear French King: The secret of Naval Architecture was not discovered by Spain, but by England and sent to us. The teatry of tech exchange is still vaild, though I forget about that tech because it was a tech I didn't discovered and I didn't get into my turn. I want also to know if the exchange tech teatry applies to tech gifted by other nations... (What do you think? Did you remember anything about that? Have you spoke with England about my suggested exchange of Const. Monarchy for Improved Hulls?)

Anyway, Spain is very disstress (for using the French King's word) by seeing how French units are invading our territory even when we are at peace right now! There are some French units taking positions in Italy. That's not fair. I've retained myself from build a Pyrinees' fortress because it falls also on your territory. I don't believe that the units should enter enemy territory before the war...

If the tech problem is resolved (about gifted techs), I'll send you, if needed, the Naval Architecture tech next turn. I'll for sure send you the next turn the tech of Corporate Law. It's also probably that I'll discover the next tech in 1640... but then we will be at war ;)

BTW, Const. Monarchy proclamed. The Count-Duke Olivares has been expeled from the goverment; now Lopez de Haro, Olivares' nephew, is in charge ;)

This is probably the last turn that I'll play before the 19th. I hope that for that date Steve have conquered Asterdam and Paris :p

P&P

EDIT: Originally I attached Spain1638jan.zip instead of Spain1638july.zip. This have been corrected

Well, I'm not sure how gifts of tech by third parties work, either. Give us Nav Arch and we'll call it quits! Once we are at war, tech trading is suspended.

Where am I invading your territory? I will withdraw until 1640, if I am.

John, you're in my territory (that is, inside one of my cities' radius) near Milan and Trento. There are also some units near trento that have taken position very close to Trento but not in the city radius itself, so I don't know if you must quit these units, but probably not :)

BTW, what is sense of Galleys in MP? In SP they are so slow that they will probably sunk if you try to move them to America, but in MP, where the ships doesn't sunk, they can be moved to America, and I don't know if that make sense.

Just a minor detail, I know you love the feedback :)

Yaro,

First my units: The ones near Trento are definitely outside your city radius, and are staying! ;)

Near Milan, I'll have to check, but I am attacking the Independent city, not you, and I can't imagine you are farming those mountains! However, if you insist, I will back off, and save those cannon for you! :D

Galleys: In MP they are cheap attackers, quite good enough for commerce raiding, and they can often beat a Galleon on attack. Their ability to get across the Atlantic is unfortunate, but of course in SP, the AI gets them across all the time...Overall, I am not too worried, but thanks, as ever, for the feedback! :goodjob:
