Colonization II Project

From the front page:

"There is a brief Sid Meier interview over at Gamespy talking about Play the World and the next Firaxis game. It mentioned that Firaxis recently striked a deal with Infogrames and now has access to all Microprose legacy titles (Pirates, X-com, Colonization, Master of Magic, etc). Firaxis should announce its next game in October or so..."

So...they might go for the colonization thing in order to milk out all SM titles...
 
AFAIK Sid's next game will be a combination of MoM and Pirates!... so no danger :) - for now. But before Sid releases his next 2 games we might actually be done.
 
hi all, i'm new to these boards - i stopped by for some civ3 info when i noticed this forum =]

i have to say that while i am massively impressed with civ3 (i've played it for a week solid now) i always preferred colonization to civ and several times i've considered writing a clone (i always figured on setting it in space though, mainly to avoid upsetting whoever owns the rights)

it was possible to play a fairly limited "hot seat" game on the dos version, although it was technically a debug mode - i forget exactly how to trigger it, but it involved clicking in a certain part of the screen during the game start (iirc, the "choose your nation" screen had the four powers shown in a 2x2 grid and clicking beneath the bottom right power set it off - you can tell if it's worked because it corrupts the gfx on that screen)

So, is someone actually programming a Col2? I'm available for graphics, this is one of my 3 favorite games.
