Community Patch - How To Install

Not a bug - the AI can bribe to you to make you spend your votes (and vice-versa) but isn't necessarily committed to follow along.

Has to be the majority religion in all your cities, not just 'your' founded religion.

OK, great! Thanks!

Hey guys, my display is really messed up after downloading the community balance patch. It seems I can't play the game unless I use the hotkeys and I'd really prefer not to use them. I tried clearing cache but it didn't fix the problem. For example there's no option to settle a city with a settler, or the option to move the settler on the left hand side. I'd really like to fix this problem, please help.

I have the same issue. EUI is installed in the correct place (as far as I can tell, its in the "Sid Meier's Civilization V\Assets\DLC" directory). I've attached a screenshot with the UI I'm seeing and another showing the location of the UI_bc1 directory. In the game screenshot I've selected the settler, but no unit action section comes up.

CBP uses it's own version of EUI. Use that.

I need to stop commenting without checking te thread :/

Okay, are you using any other mods? CL's Austrailia, or that new China mod are ones that might cause the issue.

I have the same problem as tjhdp11 and bbushvt..

I am only using the basic Community Patch w/EUI, automatic installer. I have followed all instructions (although there aren't actually any relevant special instructions that I can find). I've also cleared the cache folder.

When I run the game much of my interface seems to be missing, same as bbushvt's screenshot.

Edit: The problem occurs with just the first component (1. Community Patch) selected. If I select the other game-changing components (1 - 6a), the problem does not occur.

Edit2: I replaced the UI_bc1 directory installed by the Auto Installer with one downloaded directly from the seperate EUI mod itself. This seems to have resolved things, at least for playing with just (1. Community Patch). I'll try a game now.

If I want to use the Balance patch later I assume I'll have to switch back to the UI_bc1 directory that this mod came with, although perhaps activating 6a will be enough.

Anyway, either this is a bug or instructions could be made much clearer if this is what I'm supposed to be doing.

When you run the installer, what options do you choose when asked on the page labelled: Select Components?
There are:
  • Full Community Patch Project (including EUI)
  • Full Community Patch Project (no EUI)
  • Community Patch only
  • Community Patch and Community Balance Patch only

Choosing the top option means you MUST enable mods: 1,2,3,4,5,6a on the Mod Selection screen inside CivV. Any other choices will cause problems.

I have chosen the top one, "Full Community Patch Project (including EUI)" and I do enable all of those mods. Perhaps there is a small mistake I've made in placing the LUA folder in the DLC folder?

In the instructions, it requests that I delete the LUA folders from the CP and CBP folders, but I'm not actually finding any LUA folders in those locations.

No other actions are needed. The deletion of the Lua folders is for those that install manually.

I have fixed the issue, and it was 100% my fault. I cleared the cache before installing the mods, but I didn't delete the Logs or ModUserData folders like the downloadable instructions say.

Once I did that, the mod works like a charm. :-)

This was absolutely my fault, but it might be worth mentioning those folders on the initial post of this thread? The cache is mentioned a few times, but not the other two.

Thanks and I hope this helps some others!

I have a problem, notifications on the right side of the screen after every turn are gone, how can I turn them back or is it a bug of the new version of the mode? previous version was ok

Hey man! Check out what I did one post above. Does that help?

That's not specified anywhere that I could find. It clearly should be.

Anyway, it doesn't make a difference to the behavior I'm now experiencing, separate from EUI concerns (either with none, or with it installed manually, same difference)

What happens now, with only the (1. Community Patch) installed and selected, is a spinning wheel freeze while processing AI turns, beginning around turn 10 of the game (first 10 turns of the game work fine). I've reproduced this 5 times with different new games.

Edit: Just tried again, this time with all options installed and enabled (1-6a), which I hadn't tried for long before. Same behavior: Infinite spinning wheel on turn 14 while "Processing Turn for Player 5", in this case.

So it doesn't appear I can use this mod at all, in any configuration

Clear your cache folder and install only the mods from the installer. This will tell you if there are any issues. I'm assuming your CivV is up-to-date?

I have cleared my cache folder.

I have done a clean install of Civilization 5 + BNW + DLCs, using no other mods.

It does not matter whether I install just the "Community Patch", or everything else (and select everything else in that case).

The game locks into a spinning wheel sometime between turn 3 and turn 14, while processing AI turns.

Sounds like an install issue. Enable logging, try a game til it crashes, then post your logs folder.

Hi, I am not sure if its a bug or if I misinstalled the pack. I am currently using the full CPP (no EUI). Used the installation program. My original CIV 5 / BNW is in spanish.

There are some things that don't work properly. For instance, the game allows me to build war elephants, the game info says that I need Ivory, which I haven't, but it lets me build elephants nonetheless. Also, it allows me to build national wonders even without building the needed building everywhere. I picked Tradition for social policy, but I can build Pyramids. Building walls doesn't help with insecurity happiness, only barracks work. Cannot bribe other civs to attack another civ, even friendly and in peace.

I am still rather confused by the new features. I didn't expect floods to have more food than plains. Enemy units are tougher than expected, even in lower difficulties. Garrisoned units take damage. A horseman unit didn't heal in my territory, it only started to heal when moved to another tile, still don't know why.

Ok, I've found the problem. The mod is not translated. Where there is a description for something, the game picks the text in spanish, what means that it usually shows unmodded text. Only new things like new buildings or units show the correct text in english.
I've changed the default language to english and now it works fine!
Maybe this should have been advertised.

It feels more like Civ IV, without stacking units. So we're back to rush settlers to get the best spots. I'm trying Settler difficulty and it's like playing King in BNW. I can beat the AI, but it's not a walk in the park.

Hi all,

I've just downloaded this and absolutely love it, it's 5,000 times better and easier to play than the normal version.

I was wondering though if there was a way to make it compatible with multiplayer hot seat so that my partner and I can play together?

Thanks
