Community Patch - Modpack (Multiplayer Compatible)

Looks like it just needed a validation. In other news, two friends of mine and I are running into a loading screen every turn or so when using the EUI version. Can you think of any fixes? We would prefer to use the EUI version due to information accessibility. We are all on windows 10.

Have you tried to disable barbarians? It should fix most of the desyncs in the early game. I have noticed that desyncs start to be quite frequent again on later eras, when you find the other continent and wars become more common, but it's not that big of a problem, since the turn simulation takes forever anyway. :)

hi guys, created the account only for this info

i solved the multiplayer desync issue (loading screen after turn) in the multiplayer by disabling the improved barbarians altogether by deleting these files from the mod folder :

Spoiler :

after that the multiplayer game is running smoothly ( 2 human players, 10 immortal AI players, huge map, raging barbarians enabled )

hope this helps

cheers

edit : if u leave the files there and just disable the barbarians ingame the desync issue will still be present

We tried this with a friend but unfortunately it didn't help. We had 4 desyncs in first 9 turns (EUI, standard settings, barbarians on).

Hi, I was thinking about translating parts of this mod into German. However, for example the settings string "Barbarian GG/GA points", I can't find it in any file. Where is this located?

I've got a bit of an interesting issue.

I'm trying to play with a friend with this and one or two custom civilizations. However, even when we include only one custom civ we get this weird tech called "Forbidden Knowledge" at the start of the game. Researching it sends you to the information era. It's odd. Does anyone know how to get rid of this? I have found a few bits of code in the custom civ's XML files that mention "FORBIDDEN_TECH" or something similar but removing it had no effect it seems.

Also, if that is not possible, does anyone know a way to separate the component that ensures Barbarians give Great General points? Being that we want to use the Barbarians Evolved mod, fighting barbarians is most of the game and we don't get GG points. HOWEVER, when we use CBP we manage to get GG points from combat with barbarians.

We're caught between a rock and a hard place - don't use our favorite custom civs (unless we want to accidentally enter the information era at any point) or use them and don't take advantage of their abilities (one is a special GG that gives culture, from Leugi's Gran Colombia mod).

Can anyone offer any guidance/insight on this issue?

I finally got both of my accounts set up with the proper DLC and tried this as well. I get consistent desyncing, between 50-75% of the turns.

I tried again with barbarians off (but with the Mod unmodified) and got no desyncing.

So, while it does seem to be barbarians, it doesn't seem to be just those files.

Anyone have a sense of exactly what to look for in the log files?

Broz again!
I just got into a late game with 5 mates of mine (so there is 6 of us atm).
We used MP_MODSPACK_3-9_CP and it worked PERFECTLY well!

We played Large Islands, 8 city states, no barbs (mates insist on this, causes more war).

Exactly 0 desyncs! No latency spikes!

We did find that the game crashed right after the first loading when we turned on "enable player vassalage". We tried it only once tho. I'll talk them into playing the next game with barbs to test if they're the ones who cause desyncs.

Hey broz, umm I would like you to test without ruins and barbs on, if by chance with the barbs there are gonna be desycs, the last few games we played, we turned on barbs and ruins off and it seemed to be working, of course we tried ruins and no barbs and just like yours it worked fine. Our civ5 group kinda split now as every1 kinda got tired of all the desyncs and got bored of testing.

i made some test with a friend last w-e.
Internet mp but we are in the same lan, with fiber connection.
We made wars against ai every time.

23/4 => desync every turn
23/4 wo barbarian => desync at t45, t90 then desync every turns (logs : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0hygFT4YYf7bHpqVHE4S2h4SE0/view?usp=sharing)
23/3 wo barbarian => only 1 desync at turn 45, stop playing at turn 150.

Seems the older beta are more stable.

To disable events in the mp modpack, i think it's not possible by simply removing the folder. I need to re-create one, right?

edit: add logs

Not sure. In the same version, the number of desync change for me in each game.
Sometimes, the game has desync every turns, and if we save and continue the game two days laters, we have almost no desync.
So if we can say that the new version have a lot of desync, I think the problem was already here in older betas and that you were lucky.

Broz again!
My mates and I have played another 2 games, once with barbs and it seemed to work fine. However it did crash on load when we tried to enable player vassalage.
We're using CommunityPatch only + C4DF 3/9, and I've read it's description. Bugfixes and all that.

Would it be possible to slowly add things into this one at a time?
As in, add balance next, and I test it with my guys and if it checks out, add another thing. This way we can eliminate the culprit in a systemic way.

My friends and I would love to use this mod for lan play. How and what should we use to have a good fun game, without bugs and issues? We would like to use full gameplay patch with enhanced ui if possible.

Thanks

From my (short) experience:

Avoid:
Latency on the network (prefer lan/fiberoptic)
A player with a bad computer.

Prefer
Use the same .config for all of you.
Clean your cache!

Note:
latest beta don't work well with barbarian, you should deactivate them or play an older version.
if three desync occur in a row, you can try to save/reload.

Thanks! So what version do you recommend? I downloaded CPProject Full EUI 3/9

Our experience with Full EUI 3/9 is desyncs on 75% of turns. We didn't try save/reload often (though the last time we played WAS a reload as it was a new night...and it was de-syncing every turn, so we quit and dumped the mod for now and went back to plain BNW...). If you want to play 3/9 without issues, I'd suggest turning barbarians off.
